There are a number of coaches I would approach...Campbell, Freeze, Gus. Fickell would be OK. Have somebody like Napier as a fallback.

Instead, we are going to keep Pruitt until next year, then fire him after a disastrous start and end up hiring a coach none of us have even heard of.
And none of them are Brinks truck worthy like Saban. We can’t really compare to what they did.

Because he’s unhireable?
This doesn't even make sense. This argument is so over played. We've got SEC basketball coaches on a federal wire tap and nothing has been done about it. You mean to tell me if Freeze is approached about a HC job in the SEC he won't get it? He doesn't have a show cause.

I was thinking about that this morning. And I'm really tired of it. I may get flamed for this but if Fulmer can't make a decision that is best for the program then he needs to go. I'm not saying that is what is going on but look at the signs:
- He got fired before the end of the year
-Nothing has really come out in support or against CJP. That's not leadership.
-Info has been leaked that Fulmer won't hire Freeze because he has a grudge over Michael Oher. That's not leadership.
-Info has been leaked that Fulmer won't hire Kiffin because he replaced Fulmer here. That's not leadership.

Its getting ridiculous. Where is UT's leadership? If we make a decision based on other schools our leadership is weak. Make a decision and go with it. People may not agree with the decision but they will respect you more for having a plan. Seriously we are a joke right now.
Fulmer is in such a weird position. He's currently leading the athletic department, but I'm not sure he sees his role in that way. He's never been an administrator before. He's made several comments that he's "here to fix football." Fulmer is here in an attempt to rebuild his legacy at Tennessee, and he wants to do that by having the guy he picked to be head coach be successful. I don't think he really has any kind of a plan beyond that; I think if Pruitt doesn't work out, he's clueless as far as what to do.

I lean toward agreeing with you but if Freeze isn’t hired at auburn that tells us all we need to know.

And that's the problem precisely. I don't dislike Fulmer. I just don't think he has a clue what to do.

Brinks. Truck. Offer.

that really doesn’t work anymore imo. There’s something to be said about comfort and having something established. Dude is a hero at Iowa state and is playing with house money now. I think the days of just offering up a coach 8-10mil and swaying him are kind of over. It worked with jimbo but only Bc he hated the admin there.

All conjecture based on rumors.

He had a spot. It was auburn. Then they fired Gus. Now he likely jumps back in the boat. Made no sense they didn’t wait until later unless Gus told them to let it out now or he would himself
Think about it though. Those are the only schools willing to take a chance on him and maybe Miami. All of them struggling programs.

I didn't mention Alabama as a direct comparison. Put Wake Forest and Alabama on ends of a spectrum. On such a spectrum, Tennessee behaves closer to Wake Forest (or some other school like them) than we do Alabama (or some other school like them).

Steele is going to be there past signing day it sounds like. Don't think Gus was making the calls on who to take on defense.

Auburn moved away imo.
