So Gus beat teams he was supposed to beat and 50/50 against good teams in the toughest division in all of college football.

Just saying

I'd kill to consistently beat Vandy, Kentucky, South Carolina, and Mizzou then go .500 against Florida, Georgia, and Alabama. Just sayin.

I couldnt care less if he developa QBs or goes the tranfer route. Kirby hasnt been able to develop a QB either and he’s had a lot of success. LSU too. The transfer thing is extremely common now.

Not if they come here and regress which all of Gus' QB's do

That has got to be the dumbest statement by a Coach in defense of his player I have seen in a while. Not counting CP's defense of JG for 7 weeks. lol

Gus Malzahn has had at least 5 5* quarterbacks that I know of.

Nick Marshall
Jarrett Stidham
Bo Nix

All players who could go anywhere in the country to play. How is his development? Well, outside of Cam, how did those other guys do?

Not a single one of those guys did anything of note before or after Gus in college. Cam won a heisman under him, and Jarrett played for a SEC title and got drafted. Bo has a few years left.

Also Marshall was never a 5 star QB, he left HS as a 4 star CB and left juco as a 3 star QB.

Yeah, if you could distill “Mehlen” into its purest and most essential form, that quote would be it.

A lot of this can be contributed to the staff telling the likes of Hubbs, AP, Swain etc that Bailey wasn't any good. Those media guys have ran with that narrative all off season and into the season as why he is not playing. Clearly the coaching staff was wrong on that like they have been on the majority of their decision making.

This is very obvious. AP is only ever negative about HB. It is clear he's been told that HB isn't good. At this point we shouldn't believe anything this staff thinks about QB's. HB is clearly the best overall QB on this team.

I don't see the similarities. Rick Barnes can develop his players. Gus has proven to be unable to develop QB's.

I understand your hesitation with Gus and I'm not going to try to sway you, but the textbook complaint on Rick Barnes at Texas was that he wasted talent and couldn't win anything noteworthy.

Here's what's going to happen: they're going to keep Pruitt this year. HB is going to be really good, so next year we are going to be very improved next year on offense. We'll go 7-5 or 8-4. We will keep Pruitt. And then we'll see what happens after that.

A lot of times the extensions are not for good job performance, but just for the perception of potential recruits that the coach is going to he there awhile. It’s mostly BS, but everything is fair game in recruiting these days.

He just got a 2 year extension before this season started. Doesn't he have like 4-5 years left on his contract already?

And recruits know that these extensions ultimately don't mean much. Auburn is paying $21m within 30 days to make their coach, who had something like 5 years left on a contract, go away. Plus coaches leave for other jobs all the time.

And he still hasnt won anything noteworthy. Doesnt mean he isnt a good coach. Dont let perfect be the enemy of good...

He has a national title as an OC, not as a HC. He did great in 2013 at AU. He's been mediocre since, has had tons of problems with QB's with multiple 5 star QB's and no five star results. Not to mention, his offense is not innovative and he doesn't scare anyone in this league. Again, he would be like hiring Mark Richt. A good coach, but he isn't going to win a championship here. Freeze is winning at freaking liberty right now and took Ole Miss to heights they had never achieved. I'd take freaking Mehlen over Gus. I'd certainly take Freeze over him

The whole "took Ole Miss to heights never achieved" is inaccurate. For some reason, you keep ignoring Cutcliffe's time there. I'm assuming because it doesn't fit your narrative.

My biggest problem with Hugh Freeze is he's a sloppy cheater. I'm not against cheating, so don't come at me with the "everybody cheats". Not everyone gets caught. He was sloppy, and it cost him. I worry that he'd be sloppy here as well. I want to win titles that aren't taken away. Call me greedy, but I want to be able to cheat like Bama and the Barn and get away with it, and keep any titles earned.

Yep. Pruitt pushes that narrative to VQ and others to keep the heat off playing JG. Then when Shrout throws a pick first play and Maurer sucks, he is forced to play Bailey. Then he looks like an idiot but he had no choice as his own agent and Fulmer told him fans were turning because of playing JG. He is trying to calm the masses for not playing him sooner through outside sources. But those who know people inside the complex and coaches around Atlanta knew it was ridiculous that Bailey didn’t play game one. Big reason I want him fired. He doesn’t know how to manage a roster.
