I feel the pain and I’ve done my fair share of complaining about Pruitt since things really started rolling downhill.

I’ve simply moved past that phase and into a phase of realizing that I personally can’t fire or hire coaches. So I’m in wait and see mode again bc I know he won’t be let go this year. And if he goes 8-4 next year I’d be willing to chalk up this season to being a F’n weird year.
I’m with you 100% there

It depends. If we go backwards from 9-3 to 8-4, you’re fine. But if you go from at best 8-4 to 4-8, then you got a problem.
This. It seems like every UT coach since '05 is just a season away from total disaster. I don't get it. CBJ merely had to go 6-6 or so. CJP could have gone 5-5 this year with an all sec schedule. But for some reason these guys go and COMPLETELY implode and go on losing benders. It's unreal how fragile even our mediocrity is.

I watched the Freeze introduction press conference when he was hired at Liberty and he won me over. The guy is a powerful speaker and would likely inspire greatness in everyone close to this program.

I refuse to believe that he's just not an option if we move on from Pruitt. I think if he wants this job and gets an interview here he will convince them he's the right hire.

I’m to the point now that I KNOW our admins, money guys, and Phil are not crazy enough to bring him back. There isn’t one positive that you can point to and make the case. There’s no signature wins, you’re not even competitive with rivals, a few of the worst losses in program history, and recruiting is already falling apart.

No way he’s back next year. Just refuse to believe it at this point. Money people will find a way to make it work, they always do. Even if we have to rob peter to pay Paul.

I don’t think the decision has completely been made, but also don’t buy the narrative that he is safe if he beats Vandy. I think it’s all about program trajectory. If he wins the next two he is safe, but needs an AM win and if that game gets cancelled I think he is gone. Fulmer is not going to tell anyone that Pruitts out prior to the fact, so I take the reports with a grain of salt.

If he can't convince them Jimmy Sexton will.

A lot of the problem is that coaches are rewarded more for sucking than not. It comes with the territory, but I wish the golden parachutes were shredded. I don’t for one second believe that any coach chooses to lose on purpose, however, it is clear when the give a damn is busted. I’ve seen more emotion from a prune than Pruitt has shown through these 6 consecutive losses.

I wanted to watch some highlights from this season today so i searched youtube - kinda hard to find to be honest :)

However, the game we played against Missouri was by far our best game of the year - first half, second half - play calling, defense, explosive plays, run/pass balance.

It was really beautiful to watch.

We took that momentum to the first half against UGA and then just FELL APART.

Never seen anything like it.
What in the world happened? I remember the VQ guys talking about how we’d firmly settled on a floor of 5-5 after the Mizzou game, and instead the bottom fell out. Why??

A lot of it is QB. It's obvious that Dobbs carried Butch and covered up a lot of his failures as a HC. After Dobbs we haven't had a QB at TN. That's the disaster aspect. If we had a QB we could be 5-5 or better. I think had he started Shrout game 1 we would be 5-5 or better, but that's jmo.

But what I don't get about Pruitt is how the defense is so bad and the personnel decisions. There also seems to be a major disconnect between he and his assistant coaches. As they said on the podcast, its the assistant coaches who make the decisions about who plays. It's Tee who decides whether or not Wideman, Holiday, and Calloway play; it's Graham who decides if Small or Hodge or D.B. plays; it's Ansley who decides if Key or Slaughter plays. They said that Pruitt has begged these coaches to play younger guys but they don't. That's a red flag. Who is in charge of the program then? He just isn't ready to be a ceo.

This is spot on. It shouldn’t be this flimsy. A program with these kinds of resources should not have the bottom falling out so easily.

I trust VQ but there's absolutely no way in hell assistant coaches are telling the head coach who plays against his objections.

One thing's for sure, if you're putting a chainsaw blade on a Makita grinder, you're not going to be listening to John Denver.
My assumption is that he was carving with it. Several options for bulk reduction that are far less risky. Almost bought arbortech but just can't make myself drop that much coin for a grinder. Chaps me to spend more than $50 on one.

We scraped by a fire dumpster USCe

Beat easily a first year HC with a true freshman QB in a pandemic season...the same team which today would probably beat us.

Give up 300 yards and 17 pts to a clueless offensive team and lucked into 7 pts of our own for a 1st half lead.

It was all a mirage. That's why the implosion since wasn't really an implosion. We were just holding the floodgates back.

I think that is the million dollar question.

Had to be some real internal dissension - but we have looked nothing like that team all year.

And nothing has really changed externally - so I think the program is rotten from the inside out and that starts with the Head Coach.

Treatment of players, treatment of coaches, ego, stubbornness - it is all starting to unravel.

Goes along with us never even “accidentally” beating Bama or Florida. We needed the greatest second half of football in UT history to beat an 8-4 UF team despite having an embarrassment of talent that year. We are Murphy’s Law in action.

Not to sound unsympathetic but what model makita grinder is that? How do you like it? My Porter Cable died. Been thinking makita or bosch. Not a huge fan of DeWalt but they seem to have good grinders.

I'd like to piggyback off his questions @chargervol ....
Were you listening to Megadeth or early Metallica when the accident occurred?

Well somehow I've ended up with 4 Makita grinders. This 1 is the 9553NB (small 1/4 center). I have 2 with 1/2 center and then 1extra large 7" wheel. As well as a 7" Milwaukee.

Metallica for certain. Play 'For Whom the Bell Tolls' every single morning just for a little boost to start the day.
