If you think Ohio State isn't the best team in the Big 10, then you're blind. They deserve to be in the championship game imo.

Not saying they are not one of the top 4.....Next year, Bama cancels every game after the first 4 games........and walks into the SEC Championship. Perfect. Can't argue they are a top 4 team!

UT has a half billion in cash and investment accounts. It's not a secret, their financials are posted on line. They are even taking on Martin Methodist in Pulaski now - which was having to be propped up by the UMC for decades. I'm sure they can do the financial projection making assumptions on the percentage of tickets sold, seat donations, concessions, gear, licensing, etc. as the economy recovers from COVID economic suicide - which it will. The new ESPN deal can be used to rebuild reserves with the $15 M annually. They probably hope boosters will step in to cushion the blow. But the blow is coming whether it happens this year or next. The question is how big of blow? They can pull the trigger now, pay out the money to change, and earn many millions back beginning next year. Or they can kick the can and hope the economy has recovered along with enough fans losing their memories to buy the tickets for next season.

That later position is what they want to do, the former position is what they should do. As my experience as a business banker for many years proved out, the old adage of "never throwing good money after bad" proved to be 100% truth. The bad is evident - in full view for all to see including the vast majority of the fan base who is out on Jeremy. "Empty Neyland" will not have to be promoted by Nega-Vols next season.

Post of the week!

@LA Vol appreciate the information. I hear you saying that your stance has not changed. Regardless of future plans, stadium renovations, etc. UT has avenues to make any decision it wants in regards to personnel issues. Regardless of current budget and future projections of profit/loss. So it basically comes down to an issue of 'want to', which makes the narrative of no money to do anything due to COVID or whatever, nothing more than an excuse in all actuality. So when we hear Hubbs promote this idea, I assume it means it's the narrative that UT wants to drive.

BH on tonights war room said, Kennedy and Smith not coming back, Palmer unlikely and Cade depends on his desire to play with his brother.
Anyone with legit options other than returning to UT are as good as gone. Then there's the transfer portal looming. Bet we see some of the younger players take advantage of that. Question is...how many? We can ill afford to lose the youth on this roster...any of them, but I think it's coming under this coach.

About the only thing Pruitt can try and sell at this point are starting positions to grad transfers and maybe some juco types. He has to know his time at UT is coming to an end if there's not an immediate and substantial turn around. He'll throw caution to the wind and try to plug as many player ready new comers on to the roster as possible and try to hire some of the cast offs from other programs to fill the holes in his staff from coaching departures. 2021 will be his last shot. Of course, if he fails, we'll be left with a decimated roster and the 22 class will be cleaned up by other programs. UT will be left with a much worse roster, no depth and yet another rebuild.

All UT needs to do is get a guy in here who can provide a spark. Give some hope. Try to minimize the damage to the 21 class and with some luck, keep and make progress with the 22 class. Still, in the pit of my stomach, I know what UT will do. What UT always does. Make the worst possible decision for the football program.

Great response. I’ve worked in tax and accounting at top fifteen firms my whole career. I didn’t feel like doing as much research as you so I am glad someone posted something. If I get mad enough I’ll start looking at numbers to show where we are “cooking” the books and ways to save cash.

So I've always shared personal stuff for advisory purposes. Anyone wondering about kickback on the chainsaw blades for angle grinders..well, this is at UT and supposed to be my thigh.

And the difference is only one year of salaries, not the whole contract because he's not making it past next season regardless.

If Jeremy is back next year he has to capitalize. Win 9 games and land all 3 of Nolen, Ty and Jordan James.

Right.
Inherent danger with chainsaws. Turns out increasing the actual chain rpm by a few thousand, via unstable angle grinders, has potential drawbacks.

@Bassmaster_Vol highly recommend sticking with the saws!😄
Man gets better after not being able to eat for forever and then tries to cut his leg off.....

So with Trey, Brandon, and Cade departing for greener pastures, who in their right mind believes we can be better even with a better QB play. With the 22 class supposed to be very good, waiting one year will only make it harder to secure the best class possible. Pull the trigger

Going to be interesting to see how many people are here this time next year.

LOL, agree... we all know it depends squarely on who's the coach. I didn't renew my tickets, and I know many others didn't either... I'd rather pay game to game if we have a new coach like Freeze than spending my money on season tickets and take a chance with cornbread tanking the program again next year.

Who is saying the 22 class will be good? We have one recruit.
