The problem is, his players here apparently love too. He can’t get along with peers apparently but connects with the kids. That’s why the glowing reports of his recruiting and how trans would play hard for him was misleading.

The team certainly plays hard, but the coaches don’t stick around long enough to build around, or to get established recruiting strongholds and we are seeing no development. He was cooking with fillet at previous jobs, now he’s gotta slaughter the core himself before he ever gets to the kitchen

I love all the snowflakes in here getting pissed at Pruitt for firing coaches mid game, but how many times have we said the same same about Chaney, Weinke, Friend etc after they **** something up?

But truthfully, as the head guy, you have to keep level. His decisions have real world consequences. Ours disappear in a stream of game thread within seconds

I haven’t seen them play hard since Mizzou. I have seen them not phone it in the way we expected but there’s a difference. For reference, my idea of playing hard (in recent history) is CBJ’s 2015 team. If our current team played 75 percent as hard as that team did we wouldn’t have lost to UK, Ark, or Auburn let alone all 3. And while we’d still lose to UF, UGA, and Alabama, those games would’ve felt like real rivalry games. Teams dreaded playing that team and often remarked after that they were by far the most physical team they’d played all year (more so than more talented teams on their schedules).

That said, I agree with you that players and recruits do appear to love him but that is often the case up until a coach is fired. Murray and other players were divided. Pruitt was the interloper there for many of them much like I’m sure there’s more than one scapegoat on our staff or just in general that players blame over Pruitt.

I'm sure the admin will hype the big win vs a vandy team with 40 players and an interim coach, but for most fans, it won't hold water. Honestly, I'm so desperate to get rid of this failed coach that I'd really take a shot with Chadwell. I don't think he's ready for this job yet, but when I consider how much less it would cost us to hire him and his entire staff along with how he's getting 2 and 3 star players to perform, I'm ready to dive in with him. At least he won't cost us as much to fire if we chew him up and spit him out, too. Who knows, he might be the coach here for the next 15 years. With our luck, we'll stick with the gump while Vandy hires the next James Franklin for their program and begins beating the hell out of us again. Then we can remove all doubt and start wearing the label of "cellar dweller of the east" with shame.

Lot of guys I would inquire about. The worst they can say is no. If you're chasing the top, then it shouldn't be embarrassing to be turned down. It doesn't become embarrassing until it's the lower level guys saying "thanks but no thanks".

Yep. Go ask the biggest names for their interest. Peterson, Meyer, Stoops, Campbell, Etc. If they all say no, it is not a bad floor when you can get Freeze, Napier, or Chadwell. It’s so easy it’s frustrating.
