SDS: Pruitt is coaching for his job this weekend

I want Pruitt gone, now. But we aren’t losing to this Vandy team. They are historically awful, just fired their coach, and may have a real issue even fielding a team.

So beating this Vandy team shouldn’t be a barometer of anything. There is ample evidence that Pruitt is not a head coach.
There is overwhelming evidence that Pruitt isn’t a HC!
And if beating Vandy is a barometer for keeping him then Phil is a lousy AD.

Dude you are pathetic
You're absolutely pathetic if you care more about a victory over Vanderbilt than you do the future of the program. If the article is accurate, we will be one giant step closer to having Hugh Freeze coach this football team if we lose Saturday. If you think somehow it's noble to always root for victory regardless of the context, you're part of the problem. I bet you also wanted Dooley to beat Vandy his last year here so we could give him one more year to drive it further into the ditch.

Huge Freeze will never coach the Tennessee football team. Doesn't matter if Pruitt is fired Saturday, next Saturday, November 2021 or November 2026. Freeze isn't getting hired here.

Extra Points: There’s no saving Jeremy Pruitt if Vols fall (again) to Vandy

“That loss isn’t survivable,” the source said. “Even (Tennessee AD) Phillip (Fulmer) can’t protect him at that point.”

Nobody is arguing that a win over Vanderbilt is proof that Pruitt is the guy for the future. A win does nothing positive for his job status at all, nor should it.

The point the article is making is that the coach of a team that has underachieved in a season, and has set up a next season where he will be undoubtedly coaching for his job, goes from "hot seat next year" to "fired now" with a loss to a team as bad as Vanderbilt.

If Pruitt loses to this Vandy team, he should be dropped off at the Greyhound Station in Nashville and forced to turn tricks to pay for a ticket back to Knoxville.

Think we may have hit a new low when Vandy becomes a career saving game for a coach.

Hope Fulmer is proud of himself.

I agree with you that a win over a high school team with a girl kicker should do nothing for his job status, but the bolded parts, so a win does do something positive for his job status? Isn't delaying the inevitable is more positive than the inevitable?

I was just sitting here thinking what if she hits a 40 yarder to put them up by 3 in the final seconds. Not what I’m hoping but at this point luck or really nothing has gone right for us this season. I just want to see one game that the offense and the defense plays a clean dominating game. Beat em by 50 like we should every year.

Vandy game will likely be a win because they fired their head coach, and their players just don’t want to play. They won’t have a fighting spirit. Pruitt is fighting for his job at this point. The desire to win is lopsided and we will win. Then Pruitt will get an extra year that he doesn’t deserve .

Honestly - It is crazy how things changed for Pruitt so abruptly?

-Zero progress at the QB position
-Offensive Line Regression
-No playmaking on Defense
-Poor Player Development / Conditioning
-Coaching inability of assistants (basically just recruiters)
-2021 Signing class falling apart by the day
-Acting like a hard headed *ss

Anything else?

I'm sure we'll have a run heavy game plan where we play field position and shorten the game. We'll throw the occasional deep ball. But that'll stop once we're up by 13, or so. That's pretty much been Pruitt's M.O. So I doubt we'll score 50. You'd think he'd try to run up the score to try and take a little pressure off himself. But I don't think he's built that way.

Vandy’s players will always be up for this game. I actually wonder how checked out our players could be. They know the ship is sinking around them.

What are your thoughts on Bryan Harsin from Boise State and would he even be considered? I know he has a previous relationship with Steve Caldwell.

You just cannot give me a reason where I will ever cosign losing a football game to an opponent. Double that feeling if the opponent is Vandy, Bama, or Florida.
