Vols new ranking in SEC.

A case could also be made that UT is better than LSU at the moment. LSU is better positioned to improve quickly in the coming seasons, but right now they are a complete mess.

I think UT is better than Vandy and SC. Not sure they could beat Mizzou right now though.

Vandy is probably the worst. Tenn and USC would be a nail biter. Most forget we won that game on a muffed punt return from USC.

If we lose this weekend though...holy **** it’s going to get ugly on the hill.

No way UT loses to Vandy. No way.

If that were to happen, Pruitt would be fired on Sunday.

Does anyone in the conference have a better QB waiting in the wings than Emory Jones? Jones has been slowly marinating, learning, developing, getting live bullet reps in huge games for 3 years now.

Florida has passed Georgia.

I could realistically see Mullen winning like Urban did. The guy is a mixture of Urban and Spurrier...off center, yet genius...like most.

Tennessee is Vanderbilt’s Super Bowl.

They’ll play their best game of the season against us.

i understand, but I see UT winning easy, 3+ TD’s. Tennessee impressed at times v UF. I thought their D played UF better than anyone has. And while the offense is bad, UT has enough of an o/line and run game to dominate Vandy.

People forget that a HUGE chunk of Mullen’s offense is mostly dormant this year; the QB run threat. Insert Emory next year and you’re gonna see continued explosiveness and production on offense, but it’ll look a lot different.

He will never struggle offensively, imo...he can coach up with the best and will have a cabinet full of weapons in that recruiting landscape, always...

Defensively they may lack a piece or two, but I think they can beat anybody on a given day right now...Bama, Clemson, etc..

This is how I would (objectively) look at the 14 football programs right now.
Would welcome differing opinions.

1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. TAMU
4. Florida
5. LSU
6. Auburn
7. Ole Miss
8. Missouri
9. Arkansas
10. Kentucky
11. Tennessee
12. Miss State
13. SCarolina
14. Vanderbilt
Appropriate.

Was about to say this. Despite all the issues the Vols have, what is happening at LSU as a “program,” (not as a current football team) is bad news. Miss State had a bunch of kids opt out/enter portal because Leach rubbed them the wrong way. South Carolina fired their coach and had a bunch of players opt out. Vandy had their mess. UT has theirs. Auburn has had some recent players enter portal and no one ever knows about Gus. And none of them are as bad as what is happening (and is going to happen) at LSU.

Anyway, this is the correct answer if you are talking program trajectory:

1. Alabama

2/3/4/5 Florida/Georgia/Ole Miss/TAMU (alphabetical order because I think there are a lot of factors that go into it and obvious bias says UF but Georgia is a recruiting machine, Kiffin just has that swag going on again and Jimbo is a proven winner)

6-12: Wide Open but as programs, Auburn and UT are still above everyone else here IMO.

13. Vandy

14. LSU
It’s going to get a lot worse for them before it gets better. You can write that down, bookmark it, whatever. They sold their soul for that ship and the devil came back quick to collect his due.

1. Alabama

The standard for CFB, gross as it is to write.

2. Florida
3. Georgia
4. Texas A&M

You could flip these around, but Florida and Georgia are firmly atop the East and it's an even battle. aTm has to deal with Bama every year

5. LSU
6. Auburn

2 programs that could be back up with the other programs next year. LSU would have been number 2 for me last year, but who knows where things end up there. Love or hate Gus, Auburn wins a good bit more than they lose most years.

7. Ole Miss
8. Missouri
9. Arkansas
10. Kentucky

Programs that seem to be on the upward swing with 1st year coaches, save Kentucky. Stoops has done a really good job there, but this 7-10 group seems to be the ceiling there.

11. Miss St
12. Tennessee
13. SCarolina

I think The Pirate can get MSU up another group next year given his track record. Tennessee and South Carolina are a mess.

14. Vanderbilt

Vanderbilt is the clear worst program in the SEC.

You do know UF beat UGA right?

Read the whole thread. I think UGA is now the overall better program. Not just this season.
Okay I did, and UF is still better than UGA
and you’re wearing some serious orange colored glasses if you think UT is better than MISS St.
USCe and Vandy are battling UT for the basement

Mullen isn’t close to Meyer level.

Not only is he close, he’s slightly better. Mullen’s first 36 games are about to be 30-6.

Meyer’s first 36: 29-7.
By the way, Spurrier’s first 36: also 29-7.

We’ll see next weekend if he enters the championship conversation.
