Any GM can win a World Series in Boston. There was a reason they canned him after just one bad season. You mean the guys who has led three different teams to a World Series appearance and was GM of a World Series champ in 2018? That’s not good at all.

He only does well with a mountain of cash to spend and prospects to trade. The Phillies have some money, but isn't their farm system awful at the moment? If memory serves all he knows how to do is spend mountains of cash and gut farm systems to get whoever the most coveted FA or pending FA is. That doesn't take much analysis or discretion.
Dude, the curse is ancient history. Boston is an uber-big market now and should be competing every year, especially now that the curse is off their back. Was in Detroit a long time, took him almost 10 years to make them into a consistent playoff team and never got over the hump. The 1997 Marlins WS was a total fluke; they didn't even make the playoffs in any other year.Any GM? Are we forgetting that 86 year drought or something?
And you obviously don’t remember because he rebuilt the Tigers from the ground up and the Marlins. Yeah he has left two teams in not great situations but that was also on ownership’s command.
Either way, he’s not afraid to make big moves and our GM is. Along with the Mets new ownership group and Washington spending whatever they want, this isn’t a great scenario for us that the Phillies got an uber aggressive GM in Philly.

Philly does not have the cash that the Red Sox, Dodgers, Yankees, etc. do and they also don't have a great farm system. His M.O. is to spend like a drunken sailor and deal the entire farm system in an effort to win now. Philly already has all that money committed to Harper and their farm system isn't great. He seems like he'll be out of his element there.
irrelevant, we had the best lineup in baseball despite all of that. Feels like 1/2 our team had career years, chances of that happening simultaneously again are slim. And lol on Freddie missing preseason as if that hurt him or the team. It can be both a great season and still a disappointment for losing grip on what was ours to take. How does it get harder than Ozzie and RAJ spending time on the DL, losing 6 starting pitchers and Freddie missing most of the preseason with Covid? They should've been dead on the side of the road by Labor Day.
We had all the important dudes besides Soroka when it mattered, and AJ and Bryse pitched out of their minds in 2 startsHow does it get harder than Ozzie and RAJ spending time on the DL, losing 6 starting pitchers and Freddie missing most of the preseason with Covid?
