As the majority of economists recognize, a trade deficit is not a bad thing in and of itself.
The more apt question is this: Would you like to have a job making shoes all day? Yes or no?
I don’t think they are going to win and have consistently stated that.
Nope, but there's more to the question. When we decide that those things like making shoes are beneath us and we don't need workers, who will the US market be? You can't have a market for goods without paying wages to people who make up the market. The theory of robotics and trading up jobs doesn't really work either. It's like believing in perpetual motion and getting something for nothing rather than reality based thinking.
As Biden told the coal miners in West Virginia, just learn to code. Over the years I worked with a lot of people that couldn't turn on a computer much less code. I'd like to see Joe Biden write one line of code.Nope, but there's more to the question. I read a play on how they can get standing. The Equal Protection clause in the 14th was mostly related to individuals having protections from states, however via “reverse incorporation” that can be extrapolated to the Feds also. The leap of faith occurs in replaces the individuals with states. To summarize it would be substituting individuals protection from states with states protection from the Feds. It’s not even going to be heard. Not trying to split hairs but there is no reason for them to take it on
I am unsure about one thing because I read two different takes. Has this case been filed or has there been a request for permission to file the case. The latter makes more sense as the answer to me based on your reply to me the other day that SCOTUS gave the states TX was litigating until x day to reply. If the action was “requesting permission” then SCOTUS would have to give the defendant states the opportunity to reply as a matter of law I would THINK
Everybody, even the stupid ones, needs to be a rocket surgeon. We can then have rocket surgery centers in all small towns. What do you mean, "When we decide that those things like making shoes are beneath us"? That ship has sailed years ago, my friend. Shoes are made in Asia.
We can buy cheap shoes cause China, Thailand, Vietnam, etc. have wages that are stupid low. It's basic economics. Manufacturing jobs naturally flow to the lowest cost production nations. This changes over time.
Put simply: WE DON'T WANT MOST OF THESE JOBS. Nor can we afford them, unless you know someone who *wants* to work for $1.50/hour.
He said COVID is a hoax? Link?

Exactly.
Ask yourself this, Trump fans: Would you want your children to be like Donald Trump? Simple question: Yes or No.
I'll answer first: Trump is the person I hold up to my kiddo as exactly the person I would NEVER want him to be.
Donald Trump is the antithesis of everything pure and good that makes our country great.

I don’t think they’re going to win. But I don’t think that was the play. I’m just trying to figure out what the real play is.
The flip side to that is that not everyone is capable of doing much more than sweeping the floors in the shoe factory.Look it. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
If people wanna make shoes, they're welcome to make shoes. It's a free country.
But basic economics dictates that it'll probably cost that person three or four or even five times as much to make those shoes by hand here.
You gonna buy the American-made $250 shoes that you could buy for $75 from Nike?
At least they wouldn't be 5 feet tall, if they were like Trump.Exactly.

This case isn’t tied to Trump funding. I’m sure he’s using it but this came out of left field at the last minute. Then within 24 hours 17 more AGs piled on. They’ve got some play in mind.I think the real play continues to be fund raising for Trump from loyal followers and the Texas AG sucking up for a pardon for his case which I believe is a federal case. Trump has raised well over $200 million.

So where is your liberal good will about believing that foreign workers shouldn't be exploited and kids should be in school rather than sweat shops?
The other point in your argument is that the job is worth $1.50 an hour. It is at the point of manufacture IF you delete transportation costs and all the other costs of manufacturing in foreign countries. However, if unions got their grubby hands on the deal which had a lot to do with the loss of jobs in the first place, then no amount of overhead cost reduction would work. Question: how much raw material do you think goes into a $100+ pair of sneakers? How many manhours do you think goes into running the assembly line to manufacture a pair?
