I guess this is peanuts but one other added cost for the AD this year and next is added scholarship $ to the budget.
I’d estimate that at an extra 1mil with the ncaa allowing schools to Have over and beyond normal scholarship limits in all sports

Keep in mind that’s more money to be paid to the university itself
Hyams said yesterday that the NCAA hasn't approved that. Said it's only speculation that they will have to.

Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be working.

I like the optimism, but no.
We are losing 2 starters on the O line maybe 3 depending on Cade. We will be extremely young at receiver next year. Shrout is inconsistent as all get out, and Bailey while having huge potential, who knows if he will be ready. The D line is weak, even if Brooks is a beast we need a second pass rusher, Once again who is going to play beside HT next year? Secondary should be ok, but its been atrocious this year with a lot of experience, so not sure there's a reason to think things will improve.. Lastly, none of the above even matters if Pruitt cant get these guys to play like a team. Leadership and accountability needs to be fixed before anything schematically.
5-7 is most likely outcome maybe 6 wins. 3 OOC cupcakes, Pitt is a toss up, Vandy, SCAR.

I didn’t say that’s what I thought Pruitt would do. A real coach has enough talent to compete. No way anyone is taking Ole Miss roster ahead of ours at the start of this season. Yet they competed.

It is not a talent issue. We just aren’t getting enough out of the talent. And good players aren’t performing well.

Talent is the gap vs bama. But not auburn, ky, arky etc

Ergen isn't looking to bankroll a coaching search.

UTAD lost $40 million this year and was bailed out. The paycuts only made up a small % of the athletic shortfall-- $1.6 million, IIRC. The university is covering other costs for UTAD and waived UTAD's annual contributions to university services and academics. Since UT managed to reconcile the university budget, the university is in a position to make sure operating expenses are covered for athletics. Generally, SEC disbursements would cover it, but schools are receiving less this year due to cancellations and lost revenue. So if UTAD wants to clean house, funding will need to be sourced outside the operating budget and reserves.

Waiting until after ESD to fire a coach seems like a completely disingenuous move by the university and undermines any sense of loyalty and trust those recruits may have. I would think the overall fallout would outweigh the gain and puts the next coach behind the 8 ball.

Though it should be recognized this year is unique with the game schedule being pushed back several weeks. Apparently USCjr and Vandy care more about their future than the folks at UT do.

It also makes no sense to do so. If we fired Pruitt after ESD any recruit who signed can get out of it anyway.

So you're saying we basically have 3 options. We could turn control back over to the Haslams and their need to dictate what we do, we can pray other big money boosters open up their checkbooks to prevent that, or we keep Pruitt and suffer through another crappy season of football.

You were about the only person on here that wanted the season canceled. you were right all along.

Definitely wouldve been great. We would've ridden our success from last year out and sell it to recruits and maybe even finish with a top 10 class. Things were going great before the season started

And let me make it even better for you: we'll be in the exact same position next year.
