That’s my thoughts as well.

If Fulmer was 100% safe I could see him waiting a year. But he knows he might have the rug pulled out from under him if Pruitt absolutely tanks next year, which is likely. If he wants to be the guy who hired the guy who brings UT back, he has to act now. And he still can but it will require getting support from the right boosters. And I think Phil still has those connections.

If Pruitt is fired this year, it's clearly going to be after the season, and that means post early signing day. Opinions on doing it that way? Is that just the price of doing business this season? I'm assuming any guys who want to leave would be let out of their LOI.

If he is fired they damn well better have "The Guy" ready to roll. Coaching searches are not a strong suit.

CJP is living in the past with pure run blocking TEs, meanwhile monster TEs are out here changing the game catching the ball.

He’s recruiting them.

Accepted Jacob Warren even though he weighed 205lbs at the time.
Landed DWA.
Tried to get Gilbert and Washington.
Miles Campbell is a receiving threat.

The Haslams were at the TN Colorado BBall game in Knoxville. Just saying. Hope that means something
Everyone keeps mentioning this - that the Haslam's were in town - well except for Jimmy, they all live here & they always go to basketball games. Not sure what is so remarkable about this - unless Jimmy was there too.

As I've stated before if no Freeze offer 4.5 million to this man. Checks several boxes. He's coached at Arkansas State and Texas in the past. See if he wants to try big time football in the SEC. Has connections to Steve Caldwell.

I still think Fulmer is gonna fire Pruitt. IMO he's working on a deal without the Haslam's money because he knows if he waits a year he may not get another chance to hire a second coach. There's just no way Phil is sitting back watching us get our doors blown off every week and not having a plan to fix it. Him being tied to Pruitt becomes much more relevant and a problem in 2021. Keeping him another year only hurts him because Pruitt hasn't shown he can fix things. It's gonna be a quick "Pruitt fired, new coach in 2-3 days later" move.
God please be true

I'm not sure why Fulmer wouldn't pull the trigger on Pruitt now. He would buy himself a least three years with his new hire. If he keeps Pruitt and we finish sub .500 with thousands of empty seats he is probably done too.

Do the 2 have anything to do with each other? I'd say a running threat QB helps with any scheme. But don't think it has anything to do with RPOs...afaik. It's not like CBJ with his zone read offense.
Nope they don’t. Like you said a running threat just adds another element to the offense but isn’t necessary to run RPO’s

Even with the recruits he made noise with and ultimately got in trouble over, OM was severely undermanned compared to most of its opponents. Freeze made OM -- Vandy of the West relevant so ironically they forget that beating BAMA at OM = Vandy beating BAMA. Twice Freeze pulled that off. His losses are explicable in that his teams played to their potential those days and overperformed the other times. There is a reason OM fans wanted to keep Freeze despite it all.
I disagree that OM is comparable to Vandy. David Cutcliffe showed they were more before Freeze ever came along. But that doesn't help grow the legend of Hugh Freeze.

I agree. Maybe it’s just my blind love for the vols🤣 but I just can’t see fulmer willing to sit back and take L’s every week and put all his faith and legacy in Pruitt. He wants to win just as much as all of us
