He’s not teachable and you know this. He’s one of the biggest hard heads I have ever come across in my life and I deal with some folks who think they know everything. All of the warning signs and red flags were there when we hired him...this is why it will be Fulmer who won’t be able to make it through this thing. His attempted micromanagement style of the football program as well is something that is and will be of great concern for folks as well. Not many coach’s are going to want to come in and deal with some of the stuff JP has had to deal with from that aspect.
So...hypothetically Fulmer and Pruitt are gone soon...give me a top 3-5 coaches you think would be a good fit? Also who’s your guess for next UT AD?

Bring back the Lane Train
we should have last year. but whatever. i knew that was never gonna happen, just like i know, despite my last two posts about it, no way Hugh Freeze ever walks a sideline for the home team in Knoxville.

i think we're stuck with pruitt at least another year. maybe more.

hope he figures it out.

As much as I dislike Pruitt I will say, I am shocked at how unprepared he was for the job. You would think being around Saban, Jimbo, Richt, he would've learned a thing or two.

I am not sure he was unprepared as much as (just like Butch), he made some poor tactical decisions. You can criticize for GSU and BYU, but the decision was at QB. We win with a competent one. As to the wholesale subs against GSU, a veteran coach on staff could have stopped it.

But put that aside, we finish 8-4. The decisions to let (or maybe they wanted better lives) Sherrer, Rumph, and Rocker go appear to have been devastating than at first thought. They were better teachers, and he replaced them with younger recruiters, who couldn't teach. Then, add that to playing JG again, and there you have it. I think it's as simple as that. Retain or hire teachers, play someone else at QB, and we aren't even talking about Jeremy Pruitt's job or what else he doesn't do well.

Being knowledgeable about how to efficiently run a machine doesn't mean you know how to design and build your own machine.

Saban is an extremely effective CEO. Pruitt is someone who he hired to carry out tasks as directed by him. Saban planned, designed, and had a machine built and hired Pruitt and others to operate it. When this light comes on, pull this lever...when the machine makes this particular noise go over and press this button, that kind of thing.

Pruitt, like many other Saban assistants, is an order-taker. I know that sounds demeaning, but it really isn't, because it does take some knowledge and ability to be able to run a complicated machine. However, that doesn't mean Pruitt knows the first thing about going somewhere else and planning, designing, and building his own machine and bringing in capable people to run it. The fact that he worked for Saban probably gives him an inflated sense of self-confidence, hence his hard-headed attitude.
Agreed

Or get rid of him now when you have the window. Hire a guy that isn't hated behind the scenes win and have peace and happiness.

It's the same thing with Belichick assistants in the NFL. They rarely can beat him. And his program just keeps humming along.

Just say no to the up and coming Bama assistants from now on.

I agree, I see very little that tells me Pruitt will get less than 5 years.

Secondly every time we might even think about a search I will want to bring back the Lane Train, he knows he messed up, he's learned and he's grown up, let him fix the mess he created.

No, it doesn't mean he's done. It means UT, which is already debt servicing a financial shortfall for this year with another projected for next year, will have to source upward of $20MM for a coaching search it doesn't want. And find someone who's the right fit for UT-- NOT as easy as fans think-- and is willing to come to UT on terms UT is willing to offer. And it means Randy Boyd is willing to do this and Phillip Fulmer wants to do this, when both wanted to stabilize the program with a five-year hire.

None of which means it can't be done or won't be done. But it also doesn't mean it will be done or that fans or the media will know it's being done. The season is going to play out and UT will continue to work from within.

Which will be interesting to see how that plays out. the majority of the recruiting class has stayed, but a few assistants are not returning or awaiting other openings.

So...sifting through this...the first step we need to take is new AD. Then let the new AD come in and hire the next HC. Otherwise, no one of substance will be interested due to PF interference.

3 big names on this Forum who carry some kind of weight at UT have all echoed the same about Pruitt that’s very concerning... @LA Vol @Atlanta VOL @JacketVol

im sure y’all have stories about this guy that could go on for days dealing with him..but I hope he’s gone.this makes two insecure micromanaging HC’s we have hired and both never worked out!..I know it’s about money and we don’t have it right now but it’s time.he’s had way too many headliners under his lead that’s put a black eye on the university and the whole staff.it’s embarrassing.his product is embarrassing.

Lol it’ll just be some new reason the next go-round. It’s always something with UT.

I do know this. Casey sometimes reads here, so I try to be diplomatic. Absolutely the warning signs and red flags were there when we hired him-- and I've said over and over that his personality and style are what they've always been. Couple that with the dynamics and learning curve at a place like UT, where winning is expected and fans are impatient, and we're where we are. And I agree that Fulmer won't get a mulligan.

Close enough. The players ain’t sick of it yet. They out there hugging on the field in the middle of the game, giving reach arounds and waiting to take pictures with them after taking another L. Not sure why the fans put so much energy into when these dudes are soft as doctor cotton. I mean FFS VFLs are calling them out on that soft sh!t.

Former VFL’s obviously don’t hang around the program if hugging Florida players is going on..that would piss me off..
