Maurer isn't right, at all.
These players got entitlement mentality so bad nowadays, it's frustrating. You're getting paid to play a game and most spend 3-4 years at the school of their choice. In that time they put in work but receive so much more than they realize for it. You know how quickly I would have signed up to play football to get a full ride, free tutoring, free nutritional assistance, free healthcare, free training, the opportunity to play in front of millions of fans, the opportunity to travel all over the country, the free gear, the free career advise, while working towards an education that would set me up for the rest of my life? IN A ****ING HEARTBEAT
Instead I got to work a full time job, while also going to class full time, on my own dime with no help from anyone else aside my parents. Like seriously man, you shouldn't ever bother engaging with fans on social media. You don't know how many of those nameless faces put in years of time AND money to go to their beloved university, still donate and buy tickets as well as team attire to support their team. Ya don't like the criticism from the fanbase? Work harder. I promise you responding in that manner won't quiet the crowd of trolls that feel the need to fire at players on social media.
We got a guy that builds fancy trailer house boats on hereIt's a small land mass off the shore of Lake Loudon, accessible only by bagmen cloaked in black who're ferried there by houseboat in the darkness of night by a UT guy who operates a multi-million $$$ bag enterprise under cover of an aquatic transport company. Another UT guy stands on his dock and signals "all clear" by flashlight. It's amazing we've been able to keep it secret so long.
I'm being serious dude needs to seek mental help and going home would probably help that. Back in the summer he mentioned wanting to commit suicide. It’s just frustration. These are college kids who are working hard and getting criticized in public. I get that fans are frustrated, but imagine you being criticized at your job after putting in the time. Don’t think your response helps either.
I think coaches are in it more for money than you might think.I don’t necessarily agree. Getting a full scholarship and taking daily criticism aren’t mutually exclusive. One way to make it easy is to stay off social media, but these kids also use it for friends and family.
I made the point recently that coaches just aren’t in it for money as any human doesn’t want to be called a failure. These players are the same- it’s human nature to get upset when people are constantly questioning your hard work and responsibilities. Just as anyone on here would be upset if hundreds of people criticized you on a daily basis.
It’s a tough situation, but you can also argue that pushing back actually means the players care about their teammates.

Nobody wants to be called a failure as you said, and nobody likes receiving public criticism for their job performance. However, that's one thing for a person making $50k/year to be thought of as a failure and publicly criticized. It's quite another for a person making $4.5m/year (regardless of performance, and also with a big buyout) being thought of as a failure and publicly criticized. I wish I knew from experience, but I'd imagine that level of financial security softens the blow.
BM and JG's dad have sent tweets out basically telling fans to leave Jarrett alone. I can get taking up for your son and teammate but both of them need to ignore the noise and not respond on social media. It never ends good. It’s just frustration.
