If you're talking about me, please don't put words in my mouth. I never said things were "perfect" and "great." If you read my posts, I presented facts that would present an entirely different picture.
I’m calling you out LA. Waffle House? Ha!

I am just messing around. Don’t take anything I say offensively. It’s just to get a rise....

I think JP is done at the end of the season, regardless of how we finish. I also think that potential candidates are being contacted behind the scenes. The recruits that have bailed were committed to Pruitt, the ones that have stayed are committed to the University. I believe that a coach will be announced within 24 hrs of Pruitt's termination. I don't think they'll hire Freeze but I do think it will be a good hire and most of us will be satisfied with him. I choose to believe all this, because hope is all I've got left to give to the University of Tennessee.

There will be no more money given.
Prepare to be disappointed...yet again.

Almost everybody would like to make UT a top public university, especially in core disciplines like business. It takes more than money to do that. The Haslams have enough money to endow both academics and athletics. But the Haslams aren't even UT's wealthiest donors.
Wait who the heck has more money than the Haslems?

It doesn’t matter. If he was a generational talent we would know it by know. Dumb coaches or not.
It does matter. Joe Burrow didn’t have a great year until his last Trask wasn’t even going to start over Franks so we are saying HB can’t be a great player? His coaches made the choice not to even develop him or give him reps. He has played at the highest level every step he’s been at and to just totally discredit him after JGs lover Pruitt totally mis managed him then that is dumb. I’m not writing anyone off especially at QB other than JG after how poorly this coach has handled it.

Folks are so wound up on a random Tuesday. Everyone should know that IF they make a change it won’t be done during the middle of the season. I don’t think Fulmer rolls like that. No one knows for sure about any of this but I’d bet it’s safe to say that there has been some contact behind the scenes gauging interest from probable suitors IF there is a change to be made.
People vent. That's how they cope. Most don't really believe what they post. As to me...

I think most fans were "nose up" over Napier/Chadwell hires because Freeze/Herman/Campbell are bigger proven names.

I will say though, the only reason Chadwell or Napier should be going to other schools (especially in the SEC) is if we've already hired one of the other bigger names. I do think the decision is above Fulmer's head at this point, and I don't feel like Fulmer has been a bad AD...my biggest red flag thus far with his tenure has been the unrequired, unnecessary contract extension he gave Pruitt this off season. No reason you give a coach who is entering year 3 with a 13-12 record a contract extension that includes the removal of mitigation, zero reason.

Not even a question. It’ll cost more to keep Pruitt.

The question isn’t about finances just for this and next year.

The decision to keep him isn’t comparing the cost of this year vs next. It’s figuring in the chances he survives next year. I think he wins 7 games next year and we don’t end up having to fire him either year

Normally I would wholeheartedly agree with you, but I'm starting to think that this offensive staff is so inept that if Trevor Lawrence was on this team he'd look average at best.

Generational talents should be patently obvious and emerge quickly even with terrible coaching, but you never know with this staff.

Wow . Got 10 pages behind. Lot of Catboning going on this fine morning. Also a lot of people who turned up their noses at Napier and Chadwell are freaking out because Vandy and LSU might hire them. Strange times.
It's called 15 years of slowly becoming vanderbilt. We're done with it.

John Brice on Swain Event Says mega-money people are very frustrated. Says the question is does it cost more to fire him now or to have a lost year next year. Says it's no longer a Fulmer decision.

TIFWIW

@Kingston Vol ...the shift is happening.

The question should be, will he ever win here? If you don't fire him next year, do you have to extend him again? If so what if he goes 6-6 the next year? Is his ceiling 6-7 wins? If you don't think he can win big here, no sense in keeping him past next season. Unless you are ok with 6-7 win seasons.

Bingo!

Keyword in all of this is “fun”. Jeremy Pruitt’s teams are fun or interesting to watch which is the only unique thing about his program. Every Saturday I watch other football teams play hard and have at least a couple interesting plays. We do none of that.
TN is a boring brand of football now. I end up watching games by myself because my family loses interest and want to watch something else. My sons are 16 and 13, they could care less about TN football games and it hurts me. I'd much rather be watching with them, instead of posting in the RF game threads on Saturdays (no offense friends).

My boys still wear Orange and White but they do it because they love me, not because they love the Vols.

I think fulmer believes he can win here

I’d guess fulmer has the approach that the next time he fails to win 7 games it’s over but fulmer is going to blame much of this season on covid imo

It’s a huge chit sandwich and we all gotta take a bite.

Recruiting class intact? You haven’t noticed the handful of late offers to no name 2 stars last minute to fill the class? I would normally be optimistic about that and talk up how they’ll be developed and coached up by our staff. But I’ve seen none of that happen with the current staff so unless you’re a 5 star elite best of the best and don’t need further development, coming to play for this current staff isn’t a good idea and they won’t help win games in the SEC.

Unemotional leadership? So it doesn’t matter to leadership that this coaching staff can’t seem to develop its players, can’t coach them to win, can’t manage the roster properly, cant game plan to their strengths and expose the opponents weaknesses, frankly, they can’t seem to do anything required of the job. They might have not seen enough but the rest of us have. Our staff is trash, our leadership is trash, our entire program is trash and that tends to bring out emotions from people that actually care, like fans.

I am so proud of this Ron Swanson. I am proud of the positive Ron Swanson when the program warrants it as well. All programs go up and down. The UT program has such wild, long term swings of it though. It has either been wonderful or just plain disgusting. It is now trash as you state. Most likely worse than it has ever been.

Most of the fan base is over it. UT needs to commit to having a strong football program long term or go be Vandy or the Virginia of east TN. Real football fans will be gone. UT and its benefactors can then enjoy their Neyland Mausoleum in honor of what once was.

We talk about how much better we are than SC, Mizzou and UK. That's pure BS. It's true we've had more potential than them for 100 years. But even Stoops knew he had to get better on O to compete with the big boys, so out goes his O leadership. UK knew and we will pay the price for not knowing. USC knew by hiring offense expert Beamer. We talk about holding a class together of guys that fit our loser HC's philosophy that gives us the worst football in modern history of UT. Meanwhile, USC makes the move mid-season, gives their AD time to sign their legitimate first choice, who then has time to put staff together and recruit the committed guys he wants along with others he wants to bring. Mizzou knew by hiring offense expert Drink. Look at his QB's and how quick he was to pull his version of JG with the full support of fans and AD.

Now they will all be kicking our arses for years as we dawdle around with Cornbread, just like we did with Dools and Botch. This narrative that we influence kids by what we say on here is BS. Even if it were true, that would mean the recruits have no idea how bad our coaching/program is despite seeing what is trotted out there to wear the orange that some of greatest players in football history wore. For that narrative to be true, it means the players are dumb and don't know the trash they are seeing each week. So, do we want those same dumb players to come? Nah.
