Next year will be the Lowest attendance numbers Anywhere across the country imo.

Many people have learned that sports just aren’t as important as they used to be.

And Many others will avoid large crowds forever after this.

I think sports attendance will never recover anywhere back to the same level it was a decade ago. Attendance numbers were already going down Nationwide before this mess
Yeah, if anything 2020 has reminded me that spectator sports are trivial/meaningless and have no impact on my life. And they should not.

GC never won more than 8 game outside of the lightning in a bottle year

EO has won 10 and 9 games outside of his 15-0 year. That’s more than lighting in a bottle
Coach O has had a couple better secondary seasons than Chiz, but the trajectory is still kind of similar.

This Haslams stuff has become urban legend. There is no nefarious voting block of "Haslams." There's Big Jim, who's elderly with health issues that have bumped UT down his priority list. There's Bill, who's not even a UT alum, and is into politics more than UT. There's Jimmy, who's channeling his energy elsewhere. There's Dee, who's running multiple businesses. And the younger generation is doing other things in other places.

The Haslams are focused more on UT academics these days. Jimmy and Dee are building their legacy in business and communications.
Why are we not giving Harrison Bailey the opportunity to be the future? He should be the only one receiving in game snaps. 2 QB systems are terrible. By pulling him Saturday they kept him form having a really good game. 200+ 2 TDs.

Things are going perfect and the class is still in tact. Didn’t you read the “insiders” posts? Everything’s great and going according to plan. They’ve got this.

Pruitt has some aces up his sleeve. Some diamond in the rough 3*s and some SEC rejects to round out his staff next season.

Then he should wait. You’re right, if he takes that job, he’s out in five years and will have to claw up to even be a coordinator in the SEC.
It would be awful for his career path unless he somehow did what Franklin did. That has to be the hardest place in America to win.

If they keep Pruitt, 2021 will be the worst (non-pandemic) attendance percentage in UT history. I am not being hyperbolic or purposely dramatic by saying this fanbase is as checked-out as I've ever seen it. I'm in my late 20's and they're losing my generation. Very few younger than me care about the program at all. To them we're a basketball school.

Add in the fact COVID may still be lingering in 2021 (post-vaccine) resulting in the older folks being advised to stay home, and a putrid home schedule with no marquee non-conference game and Florida and Alabama on the road, and they are going to be hurt bad financially by letting Pruitt limp to the finish line.

If keeping Pruitt is about money, be careful what you wish for.

I’m turning 30 in less than a month. The enthusiasm from our generation isn’t the same as the one before it. I remember the late 90s through the mid 00s very well, but those that are a few years younger than me do not. The last 12 years is killing the program and in 15-20 years from now when the older generations, that saw greatness, are gone or not able to attend games, Neyland Stadium will not be filled like it once was. I’ll always support the Vols. Where it will really hurt is losing the casual fan that would go out to the stadium for the atmosphere and because the team is elite. We’re at a critical point not just for the program itself, but for its future fan support.

Exactly and the crazy thing is, I believe most of the fan base understands this was the best Fulmer could do in that situation. Which is why its best to make a change this year, with a full search and Fulmer at the helm the fan base would be more patient then holding on one more year and having to sit through an awful season next year.
Fire Fulmer today. Fire Pruitt tomorrow. Fulmer should go first.

People were already clowning on the Vols circa 2010. When I went to school at MTSU I worked with a bunch of 20 somethings and it was just me and one other guy who were UT fans. Even back then we caught tons of crap about the program being terrible. That was 10 years ago and we still suck.

Well to be fair, rumor is one of 'em threw hands with a female teacher...so he can have 6 stars, don't want.
That’s fine for one. But then you read on and on about Green, TID, Malone, Mims, Mondon, and the list goes on....

Oh I'm sure. Finances probably being the main culprit. Then they had the audacity to serve up the big orange faithful a steaming hot pile of the "Summer of Smokey." Talk about a letdown.

Mostly financial, including lack of sponsor interest because attendance died down considerably. It was also a time commitment from the coaches.

Chadwell, one of the hottest names in the coaching carousel, surely is not going to choose vandy. Idk if he’ll succeed at a big program but I know that Vandy is a career killer for coaches.

James Franklin?

I think it's a solid fit for Chadwell...his style of offense can thrive with smaller/less talented players. But I agree for his career right now it's not a smart move, I'd think he could find a better landing spot than there.

He acted like this to six-figure donors his first year here. He is what he's always been. All those things people hate about him now have always been there. He can't juggle the many demands of the HC job, he isn't a great face of the program, he doesn't like fundraising or community events, he isn't great at personnel management, he's terrible at PR, he desperately needs delegation skills and he would be well-served to surround himself with the best people he can get and trust them do their jobs. Yet the players like him. Really like him. And so do the recruits.

All of this is the same in year 3 as in year 1. People are just over-the-top now at what's been there all along. And the red flags were there before he was hired.

When decision makers follow the preferences of 16-18 year old young men rather than the judgement of mature adults, they can expect to reap the same results as parents who allow their children to run the household.

I respect the investment that the players put into our program; all of those who have done so over the past 120 years. However, they are here to be coached and led by men and women who can help them become better ballplayers and people. They are simply not equipped yet to have their preferences drive the direction of the program.

I want the players to like and respect the HC, but if they are the only ones that do, that should tell university leadership all that it needs to know.
