What was the risk in not extending him? Where was he going? By the end of last season he hadn't really accomplished anything that warranted a raise or extension.
Fulmer has been working on contracts for some coaches that are expiring. Tells you all you need to know about JP returning IMO.
Agree with Hubbs at this point.. Bass should get his wish on weinke....jay planning on staying and as of now friend may be back however there have been some flare ups between him and JP lately but we will see how that shakes out.
More to come on the assistant side...certainly think Chaney is in play as well.
AV, if you choose to believe him, let us know that Fulmer has hitched his wagon to Pruitt. Enough said. The something you said that stinks is Pruitt. Fulmer is choosing to throw himself into that same stinch which will ultimately be his downfall, for as much good as he may have done in the past.
Better learn to like Friend if Pruitt gets a ninth life because Pruitt’s chosen him to be his righthand man. Just look at all the coaching changes and he’s gone nowhere but up in the pay scale while his on-the-field product continues to go down.
Sometimes you gotta let things get worse before they get better. Whatever gets Pruitt out the fastest is better in the long run.
It’s just a matter of WHEN not IF at this point. Only way anyone should entertain the thought of him getting beyond next year (I think he should be fired yesterday) is if he wins the East and is competitive in the SECCG in 2021. Not a snowball’s chance in hell that happens.Volquest has already turned on Pruitt?
I'm a 247 subscriber and they are still trying to be positive.
This isn't good for Pruitt if the media is already starting to turn on him.
I'm actually shocked Hubbs would say this knowing it's highly likely Pruitt is back next year.
I think Hubbs et al, is just exhausted from all the fan negativity.Volquest has already turned on Pruitt?

Rivals ready to cash in on another UT coaching change. Nobody does a coaching search quite like the VOLS. If our HFC could recruit like we can track planes, coach like we can speculate, etc., we'd be coming off of back-to-back championships.Volquest has already turned on Pruitt?

Based on how we’ve handled quarterbacks this season I expect Shrout and Bailey to not travel, Maurer to get the start and JG to be coaching him up from the sidelineImo you start Maurer. Let him throw about 60 times. Let Banks play RB. All freshman along the OL. Ease up on the run defense. Pass defense - keep doing whatever we're doing.
Add a year. Keep the pay the same, restructure where the buyout goes down over time.I’d say the value in extending him was for recruiting. Easy for an opposing coach to say “we know you like coach Pruitt but are you sure he’s going to be coach? His contract runs out before you even would play for him”
I’ve always felt that recruiting was the best reason coaches got extensions
It’s gonna be 500 times worse if Pruitt is retained after this season. Gotta cut the head off the snake. Can’t just keep moving asst coaches every year. Keep beating a dead horse but nobody worth a darn is gonna want to come here knowing they are working for a dead man walking. Just rearranging chairs on the Titanic.I think Hubbs et al, is just exhausted from all the fan negativity.
What the Austin Prices and Hubbses of the world care about is access. That's why they play nice with people associated with the program. If even they are giving a more unvarnished version of their opinion now, I wonder if that could be a reflection of their thinking Pruitt might be done after all. They have no incentive to keep a good relationship with a total lame duck program.Wow. How bad do you have to be for HUBBS to badmouth you? I think Pruitts behavior towards the media the other day was the final straw for many of them.
Hubbs doesn't like the guy because no one likes the guy. Brent has been on campus with the Vol Network and WNML before that for close to 30 years. He knows everyone over there. And he knows all the people who were fired, furloughed or had their hours cut while this coaching staff chugged along making their normal pay for mediocre results.Volquest has already turned on Pruitt?
