You won't hear anything until our final game on any rumors if any at all are made. Fulmer does not like Freeze and he's off the table, even though there is major interest coming from his side. People won't like to hear that but he's not an option.
I believe he is gauging interest from coaching candidates but does not want to make a move, however the dominoes may start to fall and things may get ugly.
Not Fulmers decision to make

If...and said if it’s true, there is a long history there. Like...Hugh Freeze’s dream job is not UT when he is helping get Michael Oher to Ole Miss and then getting a job by Orgeron just a few weeks later.

Michael Oher can’t be that big of deal. It was 15 years ago and he was one recruit. Fulmer knows what recruiting in the SEC is about. Pretty sure he was on the staff when we got Chuck Webb and that recruitment was documented. They probably aren’t friends, but I just can’t buy the hatred narrative.

Ok so how many high school coaches didn’t get an opportunity at the college level bc they wanted a specific player on their high school team. It happens quite often.

Not sure exactly what you mean with that phrasing. But Freeze is getting the narrative out there. I have no doubt that he wants to market himself to get in on big jobs. But the Oher situation most likely soured Fulmer. Freeze’s dream job then was not UT. He’s Oxford born and knew Orgeron was going to hire him.

We’ve found ourselves on the same side for once, and I appreciate that, but why does it have to be “ego” regarding Fulmer’s issue with Freeze?

Fulmer cares about this program more than any of us. He’s literally given his life to it. Now, I’m not saying that makes him infallible, but I would argue he’s done far more good than bad in his current role.

His main goal is to get Tennessee back to national prominence. If he believes Freeze is too risky from a personality or decision making standpoint, I am inclined to line up behind him and say that’s the correct call.
I’m sure getting UT back to the top is his main goal. But maybe he’s just not cut out for the job. Just because he was a great coach doesn’t make him a great AD.

It’s my main goal to get UT to the top also. Should I be AD?

If Fulmer really loves this program, he'll hire someone who can win. He won't just take more shots in the dark. But shots in the dark are what I fully expect.

Well, I doubt he’s buddy buddy with him. I’m just making the suggestion, and it’s not unreasonable.

I understand your frustration, but what makes you think he’s not cut out for this job? Is it hiring Pruitt that makes you think that, or that he has yet to fire him?

Honestly starting to feel like the only person that can save our program and at LEAST return us to a consistent 8-4 team and a better program overall is Cut, unless we get lucky and pull Meyer out of a hat (Obviously not). Otherwise we will forever have this repeated cycle. But Cut can cleanse the program and make it more attractive for a potential home run. I’m sure most will bash, but it’s whatever.
Can’t hire Meyer. He knew one of his assistant coaches was beating his wife and did nothing about it. Then lied about it.

At this point, as bad as our football program is, what has Fulmer done to make you believe he is cut out for the job? This isn't about what he did as a coach or a player. An AD is neither. And the state of our football program is far more suggestive that someone is in over their head than someone knows what they're doing. That's just simple reality.

Friend and Graham to USC? Pruitt must be out the door for sure if that happens. Fulmer might just be encouraging these folks to bounce to lessen buyouts. Hope that’s the case.

Its going to be interesting if the "good" coaches start jumping ship. That will tell us a lot.

What makes you think he is qualified for the job? Because he was a good HC? Because he bleeds orange? I think that job is waaaay more difficult than you can imagine.

Definitely not happy about the direction we're headed, but Fulmer wants stability in this program. And Pruitt has done some good things especially surrounding the culture of the football program. And recruiting has been well up to this point.
It's not easy to fire a coach 3 years into a job, especially since the program had been trending upward. The team still is not where it needs to be depth-wise, and holding many players due to tracing has affected their development. I think Pruitt and staff have managed that horribly, and the losing has spiraled out of control. Should he be fired for that as a first time head coach? Fulmer would like not to, and I think he may extend the leash on him until next year. Lose to Vandy and things may change.
Program has been trending upward?!??!!!
