How long do you hold that over Freeze’s head? What if he’s turned his personal life around? He’s proving at Liberty right now that he can win with less talent without cheating.

You mean he’s proven he’s either turned it around or has learned not to get caught. Either way, it’s a risk that isn’t palatable for a large number of folks. I’d hire him with a contract that mitigates the majority of the risk, but we know how UTAD is with contracts...

I really don’t understand needing to have people in positions who are former Vols.

Imagine cutting the talent pool down to 5% Bc you’re looking for an alumnus.

Let’s start hiring the right people for the job. And more importantly let’s get egos out of the way!
Totally agree. He’s in over his head just like Pruitt but most don’t want to admit it because he’s “Coach”.

Why doesn't he want to make a move? There's no way he sees progress bring made nor happy about the direction we're headed.

What starts the dominoes? Recruiting falling off? Assistants jumping ship?

Definitely not happy about the direction we're headed, but Fulmer wants stability in this program. And Pruitt has done some good things especially surrounding the culture of the football program. And recruiting has been well up to this point.
It's not easy to fire a coach 3 years into a job, especially since the program had been trending upward. The team still is not where it needs to be depth-wise, and holding many players due to tracing has affected their development. I think Pruitt and staff have managed that horribly, and the losing has spiraled out of control. Should he be fired for that as a first time head coach? Fulmer would like not to, and I think he may extend the leash on him until next year. Lose to Vandy and things may change.

I mean he immediately started winning at Liberty, not even enough time to cheat and win. I was actually referring to turning his personal life around. If we’re looking for a coach that hasn’t bent the NCAA rules....... good luck.

Nothing says stability like turning your staff over for the third time in 3 years.

You know what’s even more sad than that nonsense? If Fulmer actually fires Pruitt but passes on Freeze because his ego is in the way and hires Coach McGoogle and we’ll likely do this again in a few more years.
We’ve found ourselves on the same side for once, and I appreciate that, but why does it have to be “ego” regarding Fulmer’s issue with Freeze?

Fulmer cares about this program more than any of us. He’s literally given his life to it. Now, I’m not saying that makes him infallible, but I would argue he’s done far more good than bad in his current role.

His main goal is to get Tennessee back to national prominence. If he believes Freeze is too risky from a personality or decision making standpoint, I am inclined to line up behind him and say that’s the correct call.

If...and said if it’s true, there is a long history there. Like...Hugh Freeze’s dream job is not UT when he is helping get Michael Oher to Ole Miss and then getting a job by Orgeron just a few weeks later.
Ok so how many high school coaches didn’t get an opportunity at the college level bc they wanted a specific player on their high school team. It happens quite often.

I'll gladly take his job for half the pay and give my life to UT football.

I mean, he's worse than Dooley and Dooley only got 3.

Damn. I wish we had never had that meaningless winning streak over crap teams.
