Volunteers projected to play Memphis in Birmingham Bowl

With more and more bowls canceling for this year, and more and more teams crawling towards the finish line, probably causing more cancelations...

What are the real chances that there are even enough landing spots for a sub-.500 Vols team to make a bowl?
Agreed...the implication seems absurd given what we know, but it could happen.

what a joke if Fulmer lets this team go to a bowl game. We should be saving every dime to put towards Pruitt's buyout.

We wouldn’t have to fly, would probably have to leave the band behind due to Covid. With the tv money we might actually break even on getting our true freshman QB 10 extra practices.

please please PLEASE let that girl kicker kick a field goal against us. That would be SO TENNESSEE if that's what puts the final nail in the coffin for this staff.

Imagine losing to vanderbilt and not having to go to a bowl game. It would be so glorious.
I know that people think we want that. But we don't want that. Disney will make a movie about it. We'll be the "team that gets the shaft" like in Forrest Gump or Blindside. Tired of being the extras-in-orange.

Eh, pretty high. The SEC has 8 bowl tie-ins and it seems pretty much guaranteed that the Orange Bowl/Peach Bowl/a semi-final (likely Sugar) will get an SEC team as well. I know that bowls are getting dropped left and right, and obviously the SEC was impacted with the Las Vegas Bowl getting nixed, but the conference was very quick to sign on with the Armed Forces Bowl.

If the SEC does actually have to fill 11 spots, the final slot will come down to Vanderbilt (possibly winless), South Carolina (terrible and with a new coach that is still in Norman), Mississippi State (no fan base) and Tennessee. I really don't see a scenario in which UT does not get a bowl bid in that case, and I would go so far as to say that there are other schools which UT would jump in the conference despite having a worse record given the school's greater overall popularity.

We may need her to kick for us too. I just saw that Cimaglia has opted out of the rest of the season
