My biggest fear is we will have another pitiful season next year and we will miss out on a very talented instate class.

Sometimes you have to suffer an embarrassment of incompetence in order to celebrate an embarrassment of riches in the future. Therefore this weekend or next it must be so. It must be done. Anchor Down!!

I mean I get why Chaney loves 'em. He seems the most like Bray, big arm but may put the ball in bad spots too often cause he thinks he can make every throw.
He can for sure make every throw. He has a rocket for an arm. Problem is when he gets a full game, he throws a lot of picks. But we haven’t really seen him this year so maybe he is better with decision making. His arm talent has never been in question. Still think Bailey has the highest upside. He already can call out blitz protections and go through progressions. Once the game slows down and we get a modern offense, he will thrive.

I still blame Kiffin, Hamilton, and Dooley for the past decade or so of miserable football. People forget he "redecorated" the UT Sports Complex. I don't ever want Lane Kiffin back at UT. View attachment 328552

It was as he described it. Disgusting. I walked in and turned around and walked out immediately. That was on UT leadership.

Not comparing either to these NFL HOFs, but it's like debating about Favre and Peyton. Both are two of the best to ever do it, but very different talents.

As long as Bailey plays to his strengths (and the OC calls the game to them as well) he should have a great career ahead of him. He will likely improve his arm strength as well, but he's got the size and the footwork/throwing motion already. Just seems like he's been grooming to be a QB his whole life, like watching him he's a natural at that position.

Yea I get that but why “opt out”?

Why not just say the kid has an injury like any other player that is out?

I just hate the term opt out

Because he has been playing with the injury. So making the choice to not play now is opting out.

It's pretty simple.

Because the coaches still want him to risk his health in their interest?

He's hurt. He wants to go home. Good for him.

Anybody saying "lose to Vandy and he's done" better have Randy Boyd as an inside source. People who're "hearing things" like that are either speculating or talking to people who're speculating. Randy Boyd's not talking. Phillip's keeping a low-profile. And a game that's likely to be cancelled at a moment's notice is hardly the yardstick.

Bailey also developing touch on the deep pass...at this level. He’s got the arm to make every throw, but coming in virtually cold at this point of the season makes it more difficult. Shrout has never had an issue airing it out but has always had the coaches screaming at the slightest hint of a mistake. Then JG throws a pick 6 and he knows not to even look at his helmet.

Probably so he can save the year of eligibility. Seems a player has to specifically state in some manner they are opting out in order to be able to not count this year. I'm sure they also have to maintain grades and be in good standings with their school.

In short quitting to purse the NFL and then having scouts say "you need another year" isn't likely to fly if that player didn't even attend class this year.
Everyone has a free year this year due to Covid whether you play or don't play. Has no bearing on opt outs.

So instead the people in charge are waiting for a 6 win season next year so rhey can say I told you so improvement and then let Pruitt kill the program in year 5. Gotcha

So does that mean anything's on the table or are we still dead set on no coaching change this year?
