I’m changing my opinion on something else we’ve been fed for years: I don’t believe this is a “4-5 year rebuild”. Screw that. With the right coach, we can be at 8-9 wins in year 2. Feeding this beta-male, woah is me mentality is what got us in this place. Whether the admin has the balls to do something about it is another story.

I could see it. Haslams don't like Fulmer and hiring him would be a major FU to him.
But if the Haslams way at getting back at him is hiring a successful coach. Then LMAO

I think it's the beta males in the administration is why. Either no vision for success or no desire for success. They think that's all we can get so that's all we get.

Unpopular opinion incoming...

We're not close to where I'd like us to be but, we're not as bad as I thought...at least from my in-person observation.

I haven't the faintest idea how we ended up where we are but, breaking in new coordinators, switching position coaches, and trying to get freshman players ready to play, in any year, is a tall task...but not having a Spring, 1/16th of a summer, and a limited fall increased the degree of difficulty to damn near impossible. Add in all the contact tracing, opt outs, and personal opinions that divide EVERYONE not just a team and...you get it.

I'm not making excuses. I expected a helluva lot more from JP and crew than this, but I've refrained from throwing in the towel on them.

Doesn't mean I that I would be against hiring a better candidate...just that that candidate better be guaranteed before we make a move. We can't afford another fubar'd coaching search.

4-5 year rebuild is all crowd control. Our own fans make this job way harder than it is. On a normal year you have:

3 OOC Cupcake
Vanderbilt
Kentucky

That is 5 locked in wins virtually every year.

So then all you need to do to make a bowl game is beat one more out of:

P5 Non conference, Missouri, South Carolina, west draw (sometimes tough).

No one is asking any of our coaches past or present to come in and make the playoff. But for the love of all things holy can we please stop acting like it takes an act of god to make a bowl game here.

Its honestly not that hard to get Pruitt out. Sexton finds Pruitt another HC job and Pruitt leaves citing a toxic environment. Fulmer takes a retirement package and is seen as leaving with the bad environment. Boyd announces that Freeze is the new coach then puts a new AD in place.

Exactly. 8 wins should be the floor with 9-10 every other year and every 3-4th year a shot at the playoffs. That’s all I ask for. With what we can offer, shouldn’t be that hard.

Bingo im in the same boat and that's why I keep saying 7 or 8 wins is not impressive. You don't have to beat anybody with a pulse to get there.

Took me a while to get to the point where I could share this.

My 18 year old son has now been in drug rehab for 2 weeks. He started vaping, then graduated to vapes with THC. 4 days before my birthday, he fell down our stairs because he was too stoned. He was unable to even be coherent. Scared me to death. Took him to the nearest ER, he was okay once he cleared. Was stoned again on my birthday. Then swore to his counselor and myself that he was done (having a drug buy already set up for that same day.)
He agreed that he had a problem when I did a urine drug screen and it came back positive for nicotine, THC, Benzodiazepines, Tramadol, and Fentanyl. I did believe him when he said that he was only vaping. He realized that the vapes were being juiced by the dealers with stronger stuff.

He will hopefully come home a week from tomorrow. I am praying that he will understand how dangerous his activities were and that addiction is a lifelong issue.

If I could ask for prayers for his safe return and future, I would greatly appreciate it.

My children are my world, I think that he agreed to go to rehab because I told him that he was literally killing me. He could see the truth of that in my eyes.

I will certainly be praying for your son, for you and your family, for those who are and will be working with him. Many prayers for all of you now and in the days ahead, Doc.

My only counter with what you posted is that Covid has affected everyone. Why do other teams look competent and we look like a bad FBS team. Very unorganized and amateurish team. Sales mistakes every week. Still can't cover a slant. Can we not dedicate one freaking practice to holding inside leverage and cover a #$%&ing slant? And remember, he's a defensive mastermind and DB guru. Has way overrated as a defensive guy. He's always had the best players on the field that can camouflage his ineptitude. His next job better be where has got the best talent because if not hes going back to coach DBs at some Alabama high school.

You don’t have to worry about AD. Fulmer is the right guy because the majority of fans and rightfully so love him. He has upped our support staff and behind the scenes football program x10 already. In the long run and grand scheme of things that way more important than this particular season. Pruitt was a good hire at the time all things considered. He was worth taking a chance on. He just has proven time and time again he isn’t head coach material. Not yet anyway. Maybe this can be humbling for him like it was for kiffin post USC.

Despite what some in the media may say, our program with fulmer in charge and all the extra money we are pouring into football specifically makes this job far more appealing than it was when we began the last coaching search. (Which should’ve netted us Mullen, but curry left him off the hook).

Might be some truth to it. Tony B said that Freeze is working behind the scenes to get this job.

He also said that Freeze and Malzahn are friends and he doesn’t really want to replace his buddy at AU.

It’s so damn easy. If Fulmer truly is standing in the way of this he needs to be fired immediately
