I'm going from a hazy memory but basically Pruitt told them they were all soft and implemented changes (I want to say in workouts but I can't remember precisely). He pushed for those facilities expansions too (member their halfass indoor field? He pushed for the expansion). I believe there was conflict over Pruitt being able to get the Admin to move on these things while Richt couldn't or wouldn't push for them. It was said that they had fairly open arguments about how things should be done with Pruitt constantly challenging Richt's authority. It was all during a time where a lot of people at UGA were simply tired of Richt.

There's also an UGA legend about Pruitt showing up at Richt's house one night drunk and challenging him to fisticuffs. As hilarious as that image is to me, I highly doubt it happened.
I know the drinking story. I didn't know Pruitt was the one that pushed for the field. Hearing stuff like that and the control he had it sounds like they were grooming him to take over for Richt

I believe that's exactly what the UGA Admin had planned and why they had such open conflict. Pruitt was gunning hard for that spot while it was still occupied but their admin and Pruitt were both so ham-fisted with how they handled it that when the dust settled Pruitt had alienated too many people.

And it sounds like Pruitt is still the same ole stubborn SOB he was then

What QB is consistently successful when stuck in 3rd and longs every possession. UF just waited for the run on 1st and 2nd down then brought everyone on 3rd. We weren't even picking them up and they were coming untouched.

One with wheels. Dobbs maybe. I'm out for now.

I don't know what's true and what's not but what we're seeing from him now is exactly what I was warned about by UGA peeps. BAMA fans, otoh, absolutely love Pruitt and I don't think it's because he's one of their own -- they got to see him at his best utilizing top talent AND with his ego held in check by Saban. There's no one to do that here. He's the HC and any UTAD is so dependent upon boosters that they can't even fart without permission let alone hold coaches in check.

Our boosters need to get over themselves and are a huge problem. I agree with the difference of Pruitt being held in check vs not being. Also with the reports of him saying I could be a DC again tomorrow if you fire me it sounds like he's been unchecked. I think Pruitt is probably here 2 more years regardless unless he goes like 2-10 or shows up naked in Neyland stadium in the middle of the night and pisses on the power T or something like that. But Fulmer needs to sit him down and have a heart to heart with him. Pruitt has to decide does he want to be successful or does he want to be right.

So who gets the start next week?

I mean the only QB it won’t be is Maurer

No telling, but I can guarantee one thing. It will be a QB that receives very poor coaching.

Think about what Ainge looked like without Cut, and then what he looked like with Cut. Think about what Crompton became with good QB coaching. I don't put much stock in what any of our QB's look like (except JG) under Weinke and coupled with having gotten virtually no shot until tonight.

I'm not sure you could have designed a strategy to more poorly handle the QB at UT this year than what our coaches have done under the guise of giving us the best chance to win. And, btw, sitting and watching tonight from the stands, our OL and a couple of our receivers were PP. Quite frankly it appeared that several of the older players weren't going to do anything to go out of their way to help our QB. I'm ready for several of our seniors to move on.

It would be crazy and great if Pruitt turns it around and comes out with a tough team next year. I want him to because unlike everybody else...I am sick of the never ending carousel, and I don't think we would get anybody better. So many of the "Big name" hires made in the last few tears have totally bombed...I have zero confidence we would get any better.

We will see.

Pruitt reminds me a little of a guy I played football with back in the day. Smart, great tactical mind, but stubborn and when things went to hell it was always someone else’s fault. I loved playing with him because I knew he hated losing as much as I did, but damned if I didn’t want to punch him in the face at least once a practice.

Good point.

With our staff that means Maurer will start while the other three rotate.
I have a really hard time believing Pruitt will start HB. That was his shot and he pulled him.

And for the record I think HB should have finished the game.

That was a piss poor move. He needs the game reps.

Not sure why Pruitt did that.

Yep, Pruitt is going to need to wake up a realize though how he is acting right now is how he will be judged. Next year when he goes 6-6, him lashing out will come back to bite him. Im year 5 when he wins 7 he won't get another year if he doesn't change. Theres a hard lesson that Pruitt needs to learn to be a capable leader, and im not sure he's willing to learn it. That lesson sometimes you're not the smartest guy in the room, the guys you surround yourself with ( in this case DA and JC) he needs to listen to them. He chose them for a reason and he needs to let them do what they're good at. His position coaches if one of them thinks a Freshman is more ready then the upper class then he needs to let them play. Lastly the fans, alienating himself from them is the worst move possible for him to make. Obviously this year hasn't gone anywhere near how fans want it to, but he's taken in patience fans have had with him and thrown them in the trash like a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum. He can act like the fans/media are idiots all he wants, but when the "bad" stuff in your program starts to leak, and Neylan only has 80k for a game against UGA he's going to be begging for patience and more time.

So Chaney doesn’t recruit...he doesn’t coach a position...doesn’t take pay cuts...is one of the 3 or 4 worst OC’s in the SEC and some were saying he should be head coach.

What are your excuses now? What does he do well? He is one of the highest paid OC’s so you can’t say you get what you pay for.

I would be on board with playing Shrout if he didn't have the track record he has. The kid is just as likely to have tonights performance as he is to throw 3 picks in 3 passes. TN football would be nothing without the consistency of being inconsistent.
