NCAAW SEC Schedule - Women's Basketball - ESPN

Only one SEC game today USF plays at LSU. This is probably a tossup game even though I don't see many wins this season for LSU I think they may be the worst team in the conference. Quite sure they are going to be towards the bottom think they have been passed by LSU, Vandy, Missouri and Florida may be on even ground with Auburn.

UCF put a walloping on Virginia in their opener. They have a pretty good team. I think they’ll beat LSU in a close one. Virginia is stinking it up, if Thompson doesn’t turn something around really quick she’ll be gone.

It seems to me that the SEC race is wide open at this point. South Carolina is not living up to their hype (not even close). I watched Ky and they didn't look all that good. I watched Ole Miss and the same goes for them. I read where someone thinks they may be better. It's hard to imagine them being any worse than they were last year so maybe they are better but until they play more games against good competition, who knows. I have not seen Miss St yet but have heard good things about them from a credible source. It's too early to forecast the winners but at this time, as I said, it's wide open.

Treasure Hunt only played three minutes in Kentucky’s 60-49 win over Kansas State. Kansas State was without their All-American center, Ayoka Lee, for all but the first quarter.

Rhyne Howard was just 3-14 and 0-7 from three.

I’ll be interested to see the SEC All-Freshman team at the end of the season.

Marta Suarez, Madison Hayes, and Madison Scott are probably among early favorites. As expected, not a great 2020 class in the SEC.
By end of season, I think it will be down to Madison Scott or Treasure Hunt. Both of them have huge opportunities to play as starters for most of the season. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Treasure.

I know people here are high on Suarez, but I don't think she will be in the conversation. There are going to be some players on crappy teams that punch above their weight class who put up decent but unspectacular #'s that will get picked instead. Maybe Collins from Ole Miss or some rando from Vandy, FL or LSU.

Louisville up 55-30 on DePaul with 3:05 left in 2Q.

Unless DePaul makes a massive comeback they should drop out of the top 25. To have a team hang 60 on you in the first half is embarrassing. Louisville is good, but not that good. That’s just p*ss poor defense.

EDIT: I forgot they replaced UCONN in this tourney like two days ago. So in fairness they wouldn’t have had to prepare for them like they normally would. Still embarrassing but slightly more excusable.

Another blowout showcased on ESPN. It’s like WCBB is cursed because nearly every televised game is either noncompetitive or offensively deficient.

Man I know. And then some of the very best games you can’t even find to stream. Always happens like that. I wish they would televise more of the P5 schools not in the top 25 like in the men’s game. The UNI/IOWA game was a fun one, high scoring good basketball.

NY Liberty get #1 pick in WNBA draft, Wings #2, Dream #3, Fever #4.

Thinking through all the players graduating this year and I’ve got to be honest. If Rennia has a good season she could go #1. Last season the draft was pretty stacked there were several really talented players that would have been #1 if Ionescu weren’t graduating. The only players I can think of that have a chance would be Slocum and Dana Evans. Possibly Erin Boley could have a big year, but that’s a long shot. None of them have the upside of Rennia though. She’s easily one of the most versatile players in her class. Really one of the few who can truly play at all 3 levels.

Am I crazy? Or forgetting someone obvious? Really do think she’s one of the best, if not the best WNBA prospects. If you look at her in comparison with other Lady Vols who play(ed) in the W she’s right there statistically.

UCF 30-11 over LSU at the half
this team is for real

I also think LSU is just really, really bad this season. Painful to watch the two times I tried. Sadly I think this will be Coach Fargas’ last season at the helm. I LOVE her, always have. She was my favorite assistant of Pat’s of all time. Just seems like such a positive force. She returned a lot of her better players though and they are just plain bad. They lost Ayanna Mitchell which was big, but to start the season 0-3 and in poor form is unheard of for an LSU team.

There are a few others but she heads the class. Sad to say but if she is a #1 pick it would be odd because I love her commitment to the program but she doesn’t play like a #1 pick. When I think of a #1 pick I think of a player who dominates their position and imposes their will on the floor. Hopefully she starts doing that but currently she doesn’t. But come to think of it the WNBA has a recent history of drafting players #1 who are essentially role players, e.g. Kelsey Plum (2017) and Jackie Young (2019).

Yeah I was thinking in the context of what the Liberty need. They are very guard heavy and need a really talented forward. Rennia is better than Shook, Odom and Holmes by a long shot. None of them have her versatility. Odom is maybe the closest but she’s even less physical than Rennia IMO. There just aren’t that many talented bigs in this class.

Will have to watch as the year goes on and see if any seniors emerge but right now it’s kinda thin. There were lots of big time transfers in this class nationally so a lot of them are RS-Jrs now. Remains to be seen who among them will declare for the draft.

I could see why Plum went #1 since she broke Stiles scoring record. Young made no sense to me though. Still doesn’t.

I think Fargas stays at LSU, The problem is the players she have on this team don`t shoot the ball very well. They play good defense but the offense is a joke right now.

Louisville will be in the hunt for a final 4 this year. They have been to 3 final 4’s but no NC.

I hope Walz gets one. He’s a heck of a basketball coach. Like a lot of great coaches he has a polarizing personality. He’s put in his time and been really close, I think it would be neat to see him win one. Would be awesome for their team as well. These days I’m generally happy as long as ‘U’ know Who doesn’t win lol.

And yes. I’m just a bitter Lady Vol fan pining for the days of old. Here’s hoping!
