Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

even the high in tampa Monday thru Thur next week mid 60s, after that looks good
where do you go?
Got a place on Cape San Blas, on panhandle about 45 miles east of Panama City. I have been checking temps and it has been about the same as Tampa for last few days. 57 is the high for Tuesday, but 70 degrees coming by Friday.

I'm 99% sure I have a new occupant around my parts.

Black long haired female cat that's been seen quite frequently lately. And luckily, not the white and black kind of kitty that my dog would love to chase.

The only way that's happening here is if I pop some Eggos in the toaster. I was going to get up and do some shopping today - since I drove over to this house yesterday and didn't bring food, there's no milk and four eggs to deal with as far as breakfast food. The weather was cold and rainy today ... I'll manage on something for breakfast (or hibernate) until it's more hospitable out there.

I was going to leave E.TN to go to Florida on Sunday after watching Tenn Saturday on tv. Okay, everything going well until Dish TV and whoever owns our CBS affiliate (WJHL Johnson City) get in a pissing contest over a contract renewal, and Dish takes my only CBS station off the air. So, no CBS, and I check on Tenn/ Fl game network, and it's on CBS of course.

Anyway, I shouldn't leave to get to Fl before the game because my birthday and our anniversary are both this week. So, I have stayed home until after the birthday/anniversary, and now can't see the game. The way around that is to get in the car, drive to the house in NC mountains where I have Spectrum cable, and watch the game in NC Saturday, and go back to TN Sunday. This will set back my Florida trip a couple of days. .

Well, about the game there's good news (it's on as of now) ... and bad news (it's on and the prospects of a win are slim). I have Spectrum internet here, but didn't get the TV package because I can record with my Chattanooga EPB app (Electric Power Board - put in fiber all over the county) and watch here - delayed a bit. That works relatively well but I missed the start of the Auburn game because they started it on the other channel and by the time I knew and programmed that it was already into the game. Seems like there's always something. See if you can stream CBS on something and use your Spectrum account for the log in. I've got a Firestick, Roku, X-Box for streaming, but I haven't looked into CBS because I have the workaround.

I'm trying to be the heartless bastard...

But that thing knows what I sucker I am when it comes to animals.

I was setting up the TV today and heard a big thump on the front porch - obviously the swing from the way it was moving. So I looked out to see what was going on, and there was a little black cat on the porch - probably had been in the swing and jumped off. I mentioned it later on the phone to my wife - she immediately went into "you are not ..." I'm not; but like you, I'm a sucker for animals ... except snakes.

There was a 4 foot long black snake that lived in my metal building where I keep my old cars. I would see it fairly often over a period of probably 5 years, and I told my wife not to bother it, as it kept the mice away from the cars. Last year, Ole Blackie made the mistake of dropping down on my wife from above the walk-in door as she entered the building. She chopped him up with a shovel. I wasn't pleased.

I must be then. We started w/one when we got married. It was her's to begin with.
She volunteered her time at the Humane Society here in Jackson & would bring dogs & cats home with her.
We also have two 88 Lb dogs she brought home 10 years ago now.
We have 11 cats, all strays, all males, and all neutered . My wife is like Ellie Mae with her critters.
