I’m not limiting Tennessee to that statement. Tennessee has always been pioneers when it comes to that stuff whether it be women or men. I’m talking about Major sports as a whole. Especially in the NFL when you got proven failure retreads like Adam Gase getting jobs but guys like Robert Salah or Eric Bieniemy that aren’t getting them it’s weird.
Did Colorado interview Bieniemy during their last 2 searches?

I don't think Mark Richt beat Saban but add him to that list. I could roll with Les Miles. I was down to him and Patterson 3 yrs ago. If Pruitt is fired, I want someone that's won something in the SEC. Either won a division title, SEC championship, or I'd be excited over someone that has beat Nick Saban. No more unknowns and "let's give him a chance" type hires. Enough is enough.
Part of Marco's criteria was proven he could beat Saban. That's why I put that.

I would have been ok with Miles the last time. Probably wouldn't have won anything big here but would have settled and stabilized things. Sort of like Barnes and the basketball thing only with Les wins (see what I did there?)

Is there any way to see how many snaps or even games some of our freshman have played in?

Mostly curious about Wideman. Only reception I know he has is from HB late vs Kentucky. But I remember him in the game a number of other weeks - just was never looked at. Kinda curious the snap count of some kids like him and Eason and others.
Siap Wideman has 23 offensive snaps over 3 games. 2 from slot, 21 out wide. 3 targets, 1 reception.

Eason has 11 snaps over 2 games. 1 assisted tackle.

It's almost gameday Vol Nation. I can't wait to see HB light it up. Gray and the O line will dominate this trash floriduh team. The boys are ready to move on from JG and it's going to be glorious. JP finally gets his signature win. Get your popcorn ready.
I'm not drunk.

Crocodile tears will flow in Neyland tomorrow.

VOLS 31
gatas 27

HB 21-33 265 yds 2 TDs
Gray 135 yds rushing 2 TDs

White beans and cornbread for supper

GBO
My prediction at halftime

I know Cut. He would have come four searches ago. Since then, he has said no again and again and again. It's not about the money with him.
It's a complicated thing. Duke loves him and he's probably going to get a statue or the stadium named after him when he's done. I've also heard people say he's got a job in the athletic department lined up whenever he wants it. At the same time, he has to acknowledge his age and the simple fact that it looks like his time is winding down there as head coach. If he wants to get an opportunity at a big program one last time, we're the only one that would consider it. I also wonder if he would be swayed at all if Peyton or Archie called and said, "hey, we can't send Arch to Duke. But we could send him to Tennessee if you were there."

Tennessee is home for him and his family. I think his daughters are still here and they and his wife are UT alums. I don't know for sure if Fulmer tried in 2017 - I think he did but Cut quickly rebuffed him.

I just see all these stat lines throwing for 300 and 4 Tds - people with that kind of expectation are gong to be disappointed.

I think showing sings of life is what we will see and that will be enough for me. I just want to see some upward trajectory.

I want a reason for hope.
I think most of those are in jest. Regardless, there has never been a fanbase more battle hardened in the DISAPPOINTED arena.

Need somebody hungrier than current Cut.

I like the idea of him 4 searches ago. Not now.

if you were to hire Cut now, you know that is only a stop gap move, and you simply have to have another move already planned for 2-3 years down the line. and not the framework of plan or an idea of a plan...an actual plan. becuase you're gonna be doing the hire a coach thing yet again...soon.

so how you build the roster, your recruiting philosophy etc...all has to be lined up for the immediate future with Cut, and the "after cut" future as well.

and to me, that sounds like a lot to align for a program that has sucked azz at doing this for as long as we have.

but wth. we've tried err'thing else. what could it hurt at this point lol?

He’s younger than Saban and people have been attempting to retire him for a decade.

If you want consistency and a proven coach, bring Cutcliffe back.

HC: Cutcliffe
DC: Mason

Coaching is what we need, talent comes to UT when we are winning.
honesty, considering the things the head coach needs to do, Cut would be a great hire. He would be the CEO, head figure that we need.

Hire a great DC and keep hands off.

Hire an OC that fits his philosophy and can keep up with the changing offensive dynamics.

Manage the coaches, the AD, the boosters and hire some ace recruiters and developmental coaches.

Game on.

I know a VFL who would drive there with Peyton tomorrow and make sure Cut comes home. He would be a legend here if we won a title after we have been down so long. Tell me a better hire that everyone (VFL’s, boosters, fans, etc.) could get behind.

If we pay $20MM to fire PruittCo and hire Richt, we might as well bring the dozer and fill in the hole.

I get what you are saying, but he checks so many boxes...
-proven winner
-stability (8-10 wins no matter what)
-will bring in a winning staff

If not for his last year in Miami, it would be a no brainer... he's just not a sexy hire

Yeah, I imagine you go VFL heavy on a theoretical staff and figure SOMEONE is ready to take over in 5 years - whether it be Tee, Jim Bob Cooter, whoever.

Fans will be mad if we don’t hire Freeze or Meyer. They will get over it. We need a true football coach and someone who can bring us 8-10 win seasons. Cut does that. Give him the highest paid DC in football (Mason) or even a Don Brown or Steele and watch us win. Our QB room would be stacked. Bailey, Salter, Simpson, Manning.....
Bailey, Salter, Simpson and Manning---all at the same time? We've basically got two of them but that's really a stretch to think we can get all four of them. There's only one football and that just doesn't work with the four guys mentioned. Sounds good but I doubt it will happen no matter who our coach is.
