Therein lies the rub. Nobody knows who that is. Finding the right fit with the right experience, having everyone agree he's the right fit with the right experience and convincing him UT is right for him is a very tall task.

If we could find the right puzzle piece and he was ready and willing to come, I think UT would pony up-- just like we did for Barnes. Finding the money isn't as hard as finding the right guy at a place like UT.

We absolutely will not pony up. Unless you draw a line at Urban Meyer. There are coaches out there, UT will not pony up. We're wondering how we can afford to pay less than 4-5 mil per year and get the best coach. No one is fooled.

I do tend to believe that if we make a move we'll hire a sitting head coach or someone with a ton of experience, I'm just not sure what level I think that person is at this point.

Only one way to quickly get out of a rut. Pay them. You had just stated money wasn’t an issue if the fit was right.

There is a coach out there currently coaching that meets the criteria that I listed.

Or sure, let’s hire the same level coach that USCe was looking to hire. It’ll surely work out.

So many of the discussions come to the balance of support staff, etc. If it’s about control then the decisions makers on campus have spent about 15 years proving why they shouldn’t have it.

Not that hard really. Best Coach not coaching right now is Meyer. Everyone has a price. Pay the man. Hire a Google coach and get ready to pay buyouts for not only the HC but is 100 staff changes he allowed to make.Its that simple, and **** a fit. You win with proven coaches . Meyer is the best and if you wanna win at the top level, he's proven it. And everyone else stay out of his way.

Exactly. Everyone knows you can throw 10 mil at Meyer or Stoops and be a top 10 program within 2 years. UT will not pay until someone on this board wins the lotto and does it themselves.

y'all keep taking about money w/guys like Meyer, and it's got nothing to do with money for him or guys of his ilk. he's got money, and will get paid no matter what.

for him, it's all about situation. and he, like Saban w/alabama when took that job, isn't coming here unless some paths are cleared for him to do what he believes needs to be done.....the way he wants it done.....and he's not interested in coming here and having to go thru the red tape this program has at that level.

there's still too many people in the way for that kind of move to happen......
