I hope staff been working a Holiday wildcat package in practice this year because it would be a good time to break that out this week if we have it and want to throw Florida for a loop and give them some new looks that doesn’t put too much on Baileys shoulders
@BruinVol this is what i'm talking about. there's packages in that playbook.....use 'em. we literally have nothing to lose. go have fun....and go down freaking swinging....

*i fully expect a ball control, keep away strategy, that hopes it's still w/in a couple possessions in the 4th qtr.....

I asked because I feel like the only sure things out there are probably Urban, Saban, Dabo, Chris Petersen, Spurrier, and maybe Bob Stoops. They’re not coming here, and a lot of them are probably done for good.

I don’t even know who the next tier would be. Then, of course, you have the coach McGoogle crowd where we’ve been having to settle. Realistically, yet ideally, we’d shop in the crowd somewhere between the Mt. Rushmore of college ball and coach McGoogle. IMO, that’s gonna be someone that has proven they can win as HC in D1 ball for a minimum sample of 3-5 years. To me huge turnarounds and/or conference championships give them points. NFL experience may give them points with recruits as far as development. When you look at it, that’s a pretty short list as well, but by those criteria, there are three that stand out to me: Sarkisian, Marrone, and O’Brien. Campbell doesn’t have the NFL experience, but I’d put him in there too because he’s the type of giant killer our program needs. However, all things considered he could be the most expensive option out of them all.

If we are taking a chance on an up and comer, I like Napier or Neal Brown.

Freeze would be phenomenal, but I just don’t see that hire getting all the necessary people (both inside and outside of the program) to sign off on it.

It’s really not a difficult decision. Swing for the fences, (Campbell) but if Freeze wants the job it shouldn’t go further down the list than that. UT has been a terrible program over the last 10 years and we have a proven coach wanting the job. This should be easy.

Sounds like our defensive game plan this year and it hasn’t worked through 4 quarters because teams will slant us to death. Pruitt better start figuring out a pass rush or this game will be over in the first quarter.

I'm not a coach but it appears to me that we have to play this game with ball control and try to minimize Florida's touches. That would require a steady dose of running the ball and short passes to keep the chains moving. I will be pleasantly surprised if we see anything else tomorrow. I'm also hoping for really cold weather during the game.

After the way he handled his recruitment he can kick rocks, I’m sure Vandy would take him.
Screw him too
this.

but....we need DL....relatively badly.....so i agree....but i'd take both back w/open arms tomorrow....

what CB's are our there that spurned us from TN that may look for a new home? need to take a look there. got any pass rushers?
:)

Yep our game plan will be run 1st and 2nd down then pass on 3rd and use all the play clock. Especially with a new QB in Bailey. Sprinkle in a few deep throws now and then to keep Florida from stacking the box too often.

On defense it won't matter what we do, they very well may score every possession. Frankly I am shocked the spread isn't 20+

nah. i fullly expect some 1st down throws, to take pressure off HB. they don't want him facing 3rd and 9 15 times tomorrow.

the goal has to be how do we get to 2nd and 4 or better?

do that, and you give yourself a chance to keep the play book open, and keep the ball....if we suck on 1st down, and i think we have for the most part this year, it's gets real hard, real quick.

First play of the game 58 yard bomb to hyatt

If we could ever just land on the right HC. Makes all the difference.

Therein lies the rub. Nobody knows who that is. Finding the right fit with the right experience, having everyone agree he's the right fit with the right experience and convincing him UT is right for him is a very tall task.

If we could find the right puzzle piece and he was ready and willing to come, I think UT would pony up-- just like we did for Barnes. Finding the money isn't as hard as finding the right guy at a place like UT.

you can do whatever you want, especially if you're gonna play HB....and going for broke doesn't necessarily mean i want him tossing it 50 times.....

but there are packages in that playbook that have never seen the light of day....time to start getting reacquainted with those, and thrown the kitchen sink at these guys.

and it even makes more sense to do that if one of your goals is to get some juice injected back in to this team.
It’s always been a limited offense with JG because he simply doesn’t throw the ball well. Plays were there to be made but 10 ft in the air or murdering worms around their ham hocks. Pitts would be lucky to be getting Fant stats. Bailey got revisionist flak for “throwing too much to his weapons”...part of that was hitting them in stride and letting them do their damage. Hopefully Pruitt will accept that even if he doesn’t handoff like a badazz.

lol...

I may be the odd one out, but I want to see this team play 4 more games. Regardless of how we feel about Pruitt the players playing will only help us moving forward.
I’m with you. If the team can JUST be competitive for 4 qtrs I will invest my time.

The first name I heard when I asked around was Fickell - might be the opportune time to strike, if he's the guy.
