Here's the rub, I have heard their is animus between them. Although it apears he greenlit Freeze as an OC hire back in 2019, but SEC nixed it. I don't believe all the powers that be would agree to hiring Freeze. So if Pruitt is canned, it could be a Napier, or Fuente, if he's fired. I think I'd rather hire Marrone than either of those guys.

Why in the hell would he hire Fuente if he’s FIRED from an ACC school?

i don't think anyone is advocating for a knee jerk reactionary decision.

i think it's more along the lines of nobody, er, a lot of folks, have zero faith that whatever plan they have, probably isn't worth the dump......the track record there is less than glowing.

and that's one of my favorite movies, and it's a great line......
What I was trying to say is that IF a change is made it has been coming and not happening overnight.

And I’m fairly confident in this decision making group and that whatever decision is made has support up the command chain (Fulmer, Plowman, Boyd).

first of all he’s not a good player and he’s had plenty of opportunities to show differently

But more importantly Quit on a team in bad times shows a lot about ones character. Next

He’s def not had a good year.

I’m assuming you know the kid personally? If not, how/why are you judging his character on a single decision? Not like he has a history of being a bad teammate or quitting.

I don’t need to know him personally to know any kid that quits on a team with 3 weeks to go has character issues

The ideal stat line for HB if Tennessee has ANY shot tomorrow is 14-20ish, 225 yds, 2TDS.....this means Ty Chandler and EG have had a great game and probably made some big plays.

that's fine. makes sense. i have said that i think we're in TBD status on the coach, so i do think it's something that everyone over there is obviously aware of, and at least on some level, has to be prepared for...

i still have zero faith that everyone that will be involved, not just those 3, but the outside money/influence as well, won't eff this up in the end....we've only gotten the guy everyone wanted once, and they still managed to eff that up...been reeling ever since.

Maybe he’s got some sh*t going on in his life you don’t know about.

If he was interviewed about it and was like “nah I just don’t wanna play bc I think we suck and it’s not fun” then ok, I feel ya. Until then tho, seems premature to judge his character.

But if it makes you feel better to claim he has character issues because you’re a grown man (presumably) upset about the decision of a sophomore in college then you do you. Just had to ask.

This is a good question for the game tomorrow....

Would you rather us be aggressive and blitz like crazy, but risk big plays?

Or

Be more conservative and risk death by a thousand paper cuts?

Sit back in zone and make them drive the ball. Hope for some tipped balls or fumbles. Shorten the game

our pass rush is so bad we can’t get home anyway

Probably guys that would never come here, but if you have the backing of the money guys, you go for the big fish before settling for a small one. Truthfully, I think we're screwed no matter what. We're not an elite program anymore. We've lost our luster, and Coach McGoogle may be the best we can do.

I asked because I feel like the only sure things out there are probably Urban, Saban, Dabo, Chris Petersen, Spurrier, and maybe Bob Stoops. They’re not coming here, and a lot of them are probably done for good.

I don’t even know who the next tier would be. Then, of course, you have the coach McGoogle crowd where we’ve been having to settle. Realistically, yet ideally, we’d shop in the crowd somewhere between the Mt. Rushmore of college ball and coach McGoogle. IMO, that’s gonna be someone that has proven they can win as HC in D1 ball for a minimum sample of 3-5 years. To me huge turnarounds and/or conference championships give them points. NFL experience may give them points with recruits as far as development. When you look at it, that’s a pretty short list as well, but by those criteria, there are three that stand out to me: Sarkisian, Marrone, and O’Brien. Campbell doesn’t have the NFL experience, but I’d put him in there too because he’s the type of giant killer our program needs. However, all things considered he could be the most expensive option out of them all.

If we are taking a chance on an up and comer, I like Napier or Neal Brown.

Freeze would be phenomenal, but I just don’t see that hire getting all the necessary people (both inside and outside of the program) to sign off on it.
