Did you coach Brandon Fitz at Bearden?
Yes sir! Worked with him individually quite a bit. Very tough kid- got his head split open (at the State Duals I believe) and his dad took him to get it stitched up, came back and wanted to keep wrestling. Really liked that kid. His dad was awesome too. If you know him well, please tell him Coach (Paul) Campbell says hello 👍🏻

He trying to hold back a sh*t eating grin? Genuinely awesome 👍🏻Congrats to your son!
He was. I think he was indifferent. He’s a big hearted kid, and loves animals, so I think he was really excited and remorseful as well. I was proud of him, but told him if it’s not for him, then that was fine. Reckon we’ll find out next fall?!

I don't think he's as bad as many have said for sure, but I think they could be better. Although I blame it on two things. 1) A QB that is slow to get the ball out, and doesn't really do anything to help them out like pointing out the mike etc... 2) And this is one of my big knocks on Chaney this year, they are a better inside zone/gap run blocking team and for whatever reason our coaches have been determined to be an outside zone blocking team.

Can you elaborate on the blocking schemes? Teach me something, my man...

Maybe he’ll end up being a man of the bow. Good friend of mine was a Captain in the Marines and got bored with using rifles to hunt bc he said it became too easy. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Regardless, any father/son time like that is priceless.

So, on a good note, my son took his first buck this evening. It’s not the big one we were after, but it’s a great first deer!! 150 yards, one shot, dropped it with a ruger .243 my late father bought him years ago!
For those whisky Myer fans out there, “ my first rifle was a .243...”

So, most of what I know is from watching YouTube videos and being self taught, ive never played, but I will explain as well as I can. Anyone that knows more than me feel free to chime in and correct where im wrong.
On inside zone, the play is typically ran inside the box, usually the run goes into the open B gap, and begins with a C/G combo block on the play side DT. The guards job is then to climb to the second level and get to the linebackers and the Tackle is supposed to kick out the DE. This is a good way to get the HB going downhill and straight ahead, think second half of Auburn, we ran more inside zone.
For outside zone, the o lines first move is to take a lateral step in the direction of the play. The goal is to get the defense moving sideways and flowing to the sideline. The HB job is to aim outside the tackle, but look for a cut back lane to hit the hole and get up field. Think the pistol "power" run that Chaney likes to use a lot. So, the problem with this run, is it can be beat if the D lineman or linebacker can shoot inside the o lineman quick enough.

If we hired Bo Davis, Tosh Lupoi, and a new OL coach I could at least get mildly excited for next year. IF we resign Tee, which I don't know if we will, maybe move him to QBs, put Osovet with the WRs, and Nieds back with TEs. Felton could stay at LBs and work with Lupoi, or he could go, I don't really care. Just figure he could learn from Tosh. If we don't resign Tee and he goes elsewhere, it would suck to lose a VFL, but it would open up a spot for a QB coach. If that happens, find a damn good one. Chaney needs to pick Osovet's brain when it comes to RPO. Staff has to work together and teach. We need to be able to teach and recruit, not one or the other.
