Let’s be honest most of our Pruitt hate is really because of one thing and that’s JG. Like AP says on his podcast, if he never starts JG again after Ky then the hate is nowhere near the level it’s at right now. People are just over JG and his screwups costing wins and limiting the offense. It makes no sense to start someone that your scared to let them sling it especially when you should be thinking long term once you lost that game
Ok
it took awhile but the ship is slowly changing course

It needs to even if Pruitt is fired next year

Yeah, im not mad at giving him another year. TBH if Pruitt is kept, which I see very little reason to think he won't be, I think staff continuity is critical. Imo, new o line coach, new d line coach, new linebackers coach, needs to TE and Osovet to special teams coordinator or off the field role.
I know a lot of people don’t like Friend for whatever reason, but I’d argue they’ve been the best unit on the team this year. Also where we’ve recruited the best in Pruitts tenure. So not sure I understand all the flack he gets.

I’m not disagreeing but what makes a “good Oc” then?

if an Oc always needs superior talent to look good he ain’t good imo
There's a lot more to it than just x's and o's, with very good to elite talent to you have to have enough command and rep to manage ego's of a bunch of alphas. To relate with, identify and pull out the strengths of these players, learn them etc. Some people can, some people can't.

And you can't just judge by a couple of flashes in the pan, all it takes is catching a little lightening in a bottle and anyone can put together a couple of good seasons in relation to their talent. Only the good ones have consistently "good to great" offenses.

Not trying to be complicated, but these are just my opinions and the way I see it.

I don't think he's as bad as many have said for sure, but I think they could be better. Although I blame it on two things. 1) A QB that is slow to get the ball out, and doesn't really do anything to help them out like pointing out the mike etc... 2) And this is one of my big knocks on Chaney this year, they are a better inside zone/gap run blocking team and for whatever reason our coaches have been determined to be an outside zone blocking team.

Majors was a homegrown, VFL, Heisman runner up, Neyland disciple, and just won a national championship at Pittsburgh.

People were more than willing to give him all the time he needed and for good reason.
Which is why we had the run in the 90’s we had. It allowed Fulmer to take what Johnny had done to the next level.

I agree the main problem for the o-line is qb play. If teams respected the pass they’d look a lot better. They’ve been good in run blocking for the most part.

So, on a good note, my son took his first buck this evening. It’s not the big one we were after, but it’s a great first deer!! 150 yards, one shot, dropped it with a ruger .243 my late father bought him years ago!
For those whisky Myer fans out there, “ my first rifle was a .243...”

He trying to hold back a sh*t eating grin? Genuinely awesome 👍🏻Congrats to your son!

Considering the amount of talent on the OL, I think we've underperformed. Part of it may be poor QB play, but I expected more from the group.

I think the Georgia game was the only game you can say they played really poorly.

I expected more of them but as predictable as our offense has been I think they along with the RBs get the highest unit grades on the team this year

Agree with the 5-2. Also, GA game stays competitive into the 4th Qtr. QB play is everything in modern football. Right now it is costing UT a season and has cost UGA a shot at the playoffs. Holding back Auburn and killed SC and this years version of LSU. Pruitt needs to get over this ridiculous level of stubborness and either take the leash off his OC or hire another one and give him complete freedom. Vols best chance to hang with Florida is to turn the game into a shoot out. Not a grind it out, ball control type of game .
