Tennessee will be the very last to legalize, because that's just the kind of luck I have. Day after I die, TN legalizes weed and the Vols start succeeding again.
Anything we can do to help speed up the process Weezer? UT needs to succeed fast :):):). All fun aside, I'm sure UT will succeed long before you die bud. Live Long And Prosper :cool:

We can use the drug money to pay CJP’s buyout....problem solved.

AP spewing nonsense. We don’t want any decommits. Especially not the ones that left. They are taking transfers now because they realize they have failed in certain areas of recruiting. ILB is the main one and saying CB is a more pressing need just shows how lost this staff is. We can’t have 15 corners and one true ILB.
Also, why in the world would this place be a target destination for any transfer worth a damn?

Changing your strategy to depending on transfers - especially when you're a two-win team with a lame-duck coach, is malpractice.

At the risk of participating in a conversation I'm not sure I want to have...

IF.. Fulmer has already decided that cjp is definitely coming back no matter what, then he should just come out and say so.

While it won't make fans happy, it would at least put a lot of the negative speculation about the job to rest.

And it would solve problems for recruits and commits that are genuinely wondering about his future.

And if.. IF.. That's the road we're taking you solve more problems than you create by allowing the narrative to fester.

I think we're in "wait and see mode"myself.
Fulmer has already said that Pruitt is coming back. He extended his contract by 2 years but people continue to overlook that fact. It's just easier to speculate on this subject.

eh, that doesn't mean it's a definite he's coming back. plenty of folks have been fired after being extended.

in general, i'm against transfers unless it's truly an impact player at a position of need.....

and if your a transfer that's worth a damn, you're probably not transferring in the first place (unless due to coaching change at your current home etc...)....

if you're a guy that's kinda buried on the depth chart a bit, and you're time is getting short on eligibility, and you need to get on the field to get to the NFL (assuming you have designs on that.....) this place provides you an opportunity to go make a name. i mean, it's no secret we need help in several areas.....look at what Van Jefferson did for himself in his one year at Florida...different situation, but that's the kind of player we'd be able to use, and showcase in certain areas.

but we're not in the position where that matters all that much. we need to get better, now. and getting some more guys with experience under their belt, can't necessarily negatively impact us any more than has already occurred this year....especially in the short term....

Agree with all of it. You need instant impact guys, but we aren't going to be shopping in that market, as very few of those guys transfer anyway.

The only thing this strategy does is fill some short term holes, but it isn't going to be reflected in the win/loss record.

When coaches do this - start going heavy on transfers and JUCOS, they know they're in trouble but also know if they get fired it doesn't matter that they didn't leave any young talent on the roster.

you are smarter than that
i am. and ftr, i believe 100% pruitt is back next year.

i just don't think that if it became important enough, the extension would stop us from firing him.

but it's not gonna get to that point....there's zero chance they get enough people that matter to that particular process towing in the same direction on 1) actually firing him and 2) to agree on who to target.

and that's not even considering the fact that there's probably a good # of those folks that want no part of the financial burden that scenario could present.

They've always planned on making room for a few transfers in this class. But the churn they're getting isn't the churn they wanted.
and that is the real problem in dealing with the transfer market.....it will take right situations/circumstances lining up for us to do well in it....on the both sides of it...those that may transfer out, and trying to get some in...........

no argument here.

that's the major downside especially if we do wind up firing pruitt after next year....that's what i meant by "short term"....long term...yeah, it's a different story.....
