-HubbsI think fans are done quicker with Pruitt than either of the other two. In part because of the other two. Pruitt has made plenty of mistakes, but for Vol fans it's not just about not being good the last three years. It's about the last decade. It's the fact the administration no matter who's in charge can't get it right. It's that other places can get the right guy and Tennessee can't.
So fans are more angry now in year three than they were with Dooley or Butch because they are tired of being irrelevant and they are tired of not being competitive outside of one year with Jones.
I give Hubbs sh!t from time to time.. He’s dead right about this, which tells me people on the campus know it as well, maybe not the right people. Time will tell.Where do you mods gauge the fan feelings toward Pruitt right now compared to where they were with Dooley in October 2012 and Butch in October 2017?
What do you see as differences in those situations?

I’m not praising him. I’m very disappointed in his coaching the last 4.5 games. But I am a realist. I know how things work. I know he will be our coach next year. Therefore I choose to support those men who are giving their all for Tennessee this year and next. Because to me that is the Volunteer way.
You don’t cut and run.
Let’s be honest. I talked myself into Dooley. I talked myself into Butch. I talked myself into Pruitt. I’ll talk myself into whoever we trot up to the podium next time. I’m just ready for those few fleeting moments of hope to start again.
This is what I’ve come to look forward to as a fan. Not beating the teams we used to beat but another coaching search.
I’m damaged goods.

And we ended up with a damn good basketball coachReading through these posts, especially the one that mentioned all us selling out for 'scummy Hugh Freeze' it hit me that we're actually replaying the Cuonzo Martin end of days. All we lack is a petition. And while that particular episode in our history was painful, the fanbase was rightfully riled up because we saw a mediocre coach who was going nowhere despite having plenty of talent, running an offense that was painful to watch on its best days on one side and an attainable surefire winner begging us to give him the job on the other. That's happening again. Freeze is our Pearl and he's all but begging for the job but if we end up with a Barnes after hiring a pro-wrassling manager for a cup of coffee I'm ok with that outcome. I don't like it and don't know if football can survive another fail but I'll take a Barnes type any day of the week over what we have.
But it's absolutely over for Pruitt. His end began when he sent JG back in during the UK game but it was sealed when he refused to send Bailey in earlier during the Auburn game and he drove the nail deeper when he didn't even try to make a final play. I don't know why anyone is denying it at this point -- even Pruitt is behaving as though his fate is sealed. The only winnable game left is Vanderbilt and that isn't enough to salvage a terrible season that more than anything has been marred by bad coaching and poor talent development. Pruitt fielded a team that literally couldn't lineup properly against GA State and he still struggles with very basic aspects of game management. Talent can't cure bad coaching. It can help mediocre coaching but not bad coaching. It also can't fix the administrative duties that are all on the HC and those are things that in year 3 Pruitt still doesn't have a handle on.
LOL, he needs to go now. Any coach with a good year one should be able to grab that strong 22 class. If I were in JP’s shoes...I would probably look to the future. Shore up one of the best ‘22 classes the program has ever seen and make it extremely hard for the administration to get rid of me for fear of loosing such a talented group of players...
