This year has the potential to be the craziest coaching carousel of all time with some of the most elite programs in football making changes. The one thing that might prevent it is the fincial impacts of COVID. Below are programs that could be looking at coaching change.

Tennessee
Michigan
Penn State
Texas
South Carolina
Auburn
Purdue
Nebraska
Florida State

The true way to look at this is the cost 4 or 5 years down the road. Yes, if Pruitt is let go it costs 13 million now. If Pruitt is retained and no improvement is made then the cost will go far above 13 million with loss of revenue due to reduced ticket sales as well as revenue from merchandise sales.

If I remember correctly there was a study completed and it showed that Saban more than pays his 10 million plus salary with increased merchandise sales.

I don't think Penn St, Purdue, or Florida St have coaches on the hot seat just yet. Franklin went 11-2 with a top 10 finish and NY6 bowl win just last year. Expectations aren't high enough at Purdue for them to run off Brohm yet, although seeing the success that Indiana is having might make them more uneasy than usual. Norvell is just in his first year at FSU.

Tennessee, Auburn, and Nebraska have coaches on the hot seat but in all likelihood will not be fired this year. Nebraska in particular; they are frustrated but I don't think are really angry yet at Frost, who is a favorite son. Coaches don't usually get fired until boosters and fans are disgusted and angry with the coach; they aren't there yet with Frost. They really, really love Frost and will give him every chance in the world to succeed. He's like their Peyton.

South Carolina is already looking for a coach, I could see Texas firing Herman, and I could see Harbaugh leaving Michigan.

Is Pruitt really on the hot seat or just our fans wishing for something to happen?

And no way Mike Norvell is on the hot seat just yet.

He's on the hot seat in the sense that he's really unpopular among the fans at the moment and is probably going to be forced to make changes to his staff during the offseason. I don't think his job is truly in jeopardy yet, but he's got to be feeling uncomfortable about his future job security.

If we lose to Vandy, I do think there is an outside chance he gets fired because that might motivate boosters to get money for a buyout and force Fulmer's hand.

Agree with 05_never_again. I don't think many of those coaches will get fired this year. Obviously, Muschamp did, but outside of that, the only one that I think may be gone at the end of the season is Harbaugh, who may take an NFL job.

Malzahn is just permanently in that annoying territory where he's too good to fire, but not good enough to make Auburn fans happy.

I think Michigan and Harbaugh negotiate a way out of his final year under contract. Not sure if you call it fired or resigned. Either way, don’t think he is back there next year.

Yes, Matt Campbell will be the HC next year. Harbaugh will be in Detroit.

That would be a good hire for them. I have seen rumors that Harbaugh may be suffering some serious health issues. If true, I hope he gets those addressed before stepping into another head coaching job.

Harbaugh- heading to Bears.
Pruitt- heading back to Idaho to do some marketing for company.
Herman- leaving Texas for Houston.
Gus- heading back to group of five to run his crazy run offense

Pruitt is a control freak. His blowups with Richt should of been a red flag but I was blinded by my hatred of UGA. Until he allows his staff to do what they’re paid to do. It doesn’t matter who his assistants are and I’d dare to say his hard to work for rep is now out among the ranks.

Coaches like Chadwell and Clark could be on the move to bigger jobs in 2021.

Beamer is the favorite for the South Carolina job.

Other than SC who already made the call, maybe Purdue and Texas. The rest, I seriously doubt.

The question is can CJP recognize these flaws ( hopefully with CPF guidance) and change his ways? I beginning to sense the “trade-in” program of hiring coaches versus “fixing what you’ve got” is swinging toward the fixing.

Purdue, no. they love Jeff Brohm.

Not so much lately. They really thought this was the perfect year to win the B1G West with not having to play Wisconsin or any of the big 3 from the East. Fan base (my entire family damn near are season ticket holders) are pissed. Brohm won't get fired this season but another 500 or sub 500 season next year I could see it coming.

Of that list only 3 will be looking for a coach this year, USCe, Michigan and MAYBE Texas.

The others aren’t there yet and we certainly aren’t gonna do anything with Pruitt after Fulmer gave him a raise and loves that he’s willing to run Phil’s outdated O
