Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Just some fun numbers.

If we averaged 400,000 infections per day, which is reasonable, it would have taken about 875 days to get thru the population. A little over 2 years.

We spent 25 trillion we dont have. If we could pay off 100 million per day we would have it paid off in as little as 250,000 days. That is only 685 years. That looks so bad I am hoping I made a mistake in my math.

I keep seeing that healthcare workers will be getting vaccine first.

There are approximately 18 million healthcare workers in the US. According to the CDC, there have been just about 233,000 confirmed cases in healthcare workers (1.2%). There have been 836 deaths (0.3% case fatality).

I still believe that vaccines should go primarily to those over 70 and high risk.
You would think our % would be higher given most of these covids aren't in negative pressure rooms. I'll wear the mask at work. They can keep their vaccine.

I mentioned this in the pub, but due to this and how sue happy we are as a society I don't see how any company would be willing to push anything out like this without the government agreeing to blanket immunity for any side effects.
It already exists, the vaccine board. US pharmaceuticals and vaccines, the industry can't be held directly responsible for damage vaccines do. So far the only industry I know of that's not held responsible for its mistakes.

There's cigarettes. Phillip Morris would have 400K lawsuits a year if you could

There was the settlement. It paid for a portion of my education. Considering what cigarette companies knew and hid from the public, they made much more than they ever paid out. It'll be the same with vaccines and pharmaceuticals.

Wow didn't realise that. You see so much about class action against this or that drug/medical company I'd just assumed vaccines would be the same. Learn something new

Maybe that’s the case. Maybe the drug companies figure they’ll rake in 100x more in profit than they would ever end up shelling out for any class action suit anyway. I’ve come to believe that’s how a lot of companies *cough* banks *cough* operate now-a-days anyway.

What is your objection to vaccines?
It's not just any vaccines. The flu shot, 31 to 45% or so effective any season. It never gets better than that.
I have a serum reaction to the shot. My joints swell for 3 to 6 weeks after taking it. Last time it got so bad I was spilling proteins into my urine. Healthy kidneys don't spill proteins.
The solution is not to take the shot. Hospitals insist that I mask during flu season because I don't tolerate the shot. ACA requires it. Not only that, I have to pay for a doctor's visit for the exemption paperwork or I could take the prep of Benadryl and steroids before the shot and just see what happens. That was offered to me. No thank you.

It'll be even worse with the corona vaccine.

One thing I firmly believe in is informed consent. It is one of the tenants I built my nursing practice on. Every person has the right to accept or reject what any medical professional offers them as long as they are fully informed. I've seen hundreds of times when a physician will sign a paper stating they concented a pt when they never entered the room. It's malpractice. If they ask me to concent a pt for a procedure I hand then the paperwork and won't witness until I feel the person has full knowledge.
Physicians get pissed about this.
We do not have enough knowledge of how adjuvant in vaccines work in the body to fully concent anyone. I got into an argument with an astrophysicist about adjuvants in vaccines. He couldn't tell me the net effects of aluminum on the human body and brain. So he went the route of PhD shaming. He even denied adjuvants were used in some vaccines. That is a straight up lie. At that point I was done with the discussion.
There is only 2 exemptions medical or religious. Dept of health in many states are trying to remove the religious exemption. Parents right to self determine what's going into their child's body is quickly disappearing. If you have government assistance it is required to keep the schedule of vaccines until you can show proof it damages your child. My right to determine what is going into my body is going to eventually be deemed unimportant and they will make the vaccines a requirement without any exceptions or work around. Those are my thoughts, I think this is where we are headed.

I'll grant you that you have the right to choose what enters your body, do you grant me the right to not pay for your health care when you contract a disease that you weren't immunized against when you could have been? Yeah, I didn't think so.

If you're on Medicare and she is on private insurance, how would you pay for any choice of hers?

84 year old great uncle tested positive 12 days ago. Hasn’t bother him once. He is out and about now.
I was just talking to someone who’s 85 year old mother also has it and she’s fine as well. However, another elderly family member who the mother got it from is in the hospital.

Why do you think you’re going to be paying for it? Also, why so testy about someone not wanting to take a COVID vaccine?
