And it begins

New Mexico governor shuts down grocery stores for two weeks

And to EVERYONE that (legitimately) voted for these people,is this what y'all wanted?
From article:
A dozen grocery stores around the state have been forced to close for two weeks because of a public health order issued by Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham at a time when the state’s residents are suffering from record high unemployment and food insecurity, critics say.

The order requires businesses with four or more rapid responses of COVID-19 cases reported within in a 14-day period to close for two weeks.

More than 25 essential businesses were shut down as of Monday afternoon, including a number of grocery stores and major retailers.

The closures include two Walmarts in Albuquerque and one in Santa Fe, an Albertson’s in Roswell, a Smiths Food & Drug Center in Albuquerque and New Mexico Food Distribution Center in Albuquerque.

It’s very surprising to me how correlates this is with political views. It’s extremely disappointing.

Let’s take a more extreme example: the government wants to take away your ability to drive because people are dying in car accidents. This would start off over the July 4 weekend where there is a spike in auto deaths. We could make it temporarily and call it 14 Days Stationary to Save Teen Lives.

I’d expect 90%+ of the people to say “hell no”. I’d expect most of my neighbors who voted for Dementia Joe to join in the protest. People seemed to latch onto their preferred ideological leaders and follow this lead.

And you would probably be disappointed.

It’s still a bad look. Gov is interfering with businesses and picking who gets to make money and who doesn’t. Violation of their rights as far as I’m concerned. If they didn’t revoke their business license leave them alone.

No worries. Shutting down groceries and pharmacies is a scary thought. Especially if those happen to be in an area where there aren't many options. Folks who don't get around easily are going to feel the pain with the mandate.

Heck, why not mandate those stores as only open to covid positive folks. There are many different ways to go about this.

Hopefully New Mexicans are thoughtfully considering who to vote into future leadership positions.

Can we shut government down for the same criteria?

There's absolutely no way to be confident about long-term side effects when we only have several months of experience. I'll reiterate that this mRNA technology is unlike anything used in mass vaccination before, so there isn't even a precedent that we can use as an example.

We are foregoing a lot of the typical safeguards put in place for any new med that determines the prevalence of side effects in favor of expeditiousness. It’s impossible to both put out a vaccine in record time and have meticulous data gathering and proper trials.

People have been warned about this from the beginning.

Vaccines cause autism anyways.

I mentioned this in the pub, but due to this and how sue happy we are as a society I don't see how any company would be willing to push anything out like this without the government agreeing to blanket immunity for any side effects.

People that test positive should say the only places they’ve been is the courthouse, dmv, city hall, etc.

In a morbid way, this is also why I think vaccinating the elderly first is beneficial. Over 75yo could prevent 50% of deaths. And for better or worse, “long term” complications from the vaccine just aren’t going to be that long term. I know there are philosophical problems with this approach, but it’s worth discussing.

similar in a way to the elderly japanese choosing to help in the radioactive zone at the Fukushima (sp?) power plant. Yes they exposed themselves to lethal radiation. But the effects would take several decades to manifest. By which time, they are already done with this life.

If you have a finite # of doses you have to target those who come in contact with more people to have the greatest effect. Middle aged families with kids would go first

Of this is about live test subjects then it shouldn't be released

Not really my point. Giving the over 75 population would protect those that currently make up 50% of deaths. There’s no other population group that comes close to that number.

It probably greatly reduces the hospital numbers as well.
