Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I keep seeing that healthcare workers will be getting vaccine first.

There are approximately 18 million healthcare workers in the US. According to the CDC, there have been just about 233,000 confirmed cases in healthcare workers (1.2%). There have been 836 deaths (0.3% case fatality).

I still believe that vaccines should go primarily to those over 70 and high risk.

I think healthcare workers that provide direct care to covid pts, senior citizens, and those that have severe lung conditions should be the first groups to receive vaccines. Then, work down from there.

What if those health care workers have adverse reactions to the vaccine and you put them out of work ?

Early on in the Wuhan Flu outbreak, I stated that the COVID issue (lockdowns, mask mandates, etc.) would serve as a new dividing line between people, superseding even the current acrimonious political division that exists in the country.

But looking back, what ended up happening was the views on these issues mostly broke down party lines and exacerbated the already wide political divide.

Does this strike any of you guys as odd? And what do you think it means? I have my own theories but I’m interested in hearing your interpretation.

Odd that it the issue broke along party lines?

Governor Cuomo advises and urges all New Yorkers not to have family over for Thanksgiving.

Governor Cuomo is having his two daughters and mom over. Such brave leadership.

Kinda like how he tells sheriffs they must enforce his executive orders as law, but refuses to enforce federal law regarding immigration??

The irony in how this has played out from day 1 will go unnoticed by the general public. Politically speaking.

There are dozens of public examples of this. Probably tens of thousands privately that we don’t know about.

If COVID is such a big deal and manageable by taking these safety precautions, why are the politicians who are pushing this nonsense not compliant? Mostly a rhetorical question.

We shouldn’t be putting out vaccines unless we’re confident about their potential side effects, right?
There's absolutely no way to be confident about long-term side effects when we only have several months of experience. I'll reiterate that this mRNA technology is unlike anything used in mass vaccination before, so there isn't even a precedent that we can use as an example.

You never watched the walking dead?

I don't find it odd. Those prone to lean left generally want the government to be in charge. Those prone to lean right, don't. To me, we're simply seeing it play out with masks.

It’s very surprising to me how correlates this is with political views. It’s extremely disappointing.

Let’s take a more extreme example: the government wants to take away your ability to drive because people are dying in car accidents. This would start off over the July 4 weekend where there is a spike in auto deaths. We could make it temporarily and call it 14 Days Stationary to Save Teen Lives.

I’d expect 90%+ of the people to say “hell no”. I’d expect most of my neighbors who voted for Dementia Joe to join in the protest. People seemed to latch onto their preferred ideological leaders and follow this lead.

Because its a "big" deal until it cramps their way of life. Obviously if it were as dire as they claim which has led to actions taken against the general public, then you wouldn't have these hypocritical situations.

I said this before the election (responding to someone that said covid would just "go away" after Nov 3rd),

They (Ds and their party extension the MSM) made it front and center the topic to keep Trump from winning another 4 years. Without covid he wins re-election in a walk and they knew it. They hammered it for 10 months, 24/7. It couldn't just go away after the election. Its the main reason why the kick back on the vaccine while Trump is still there regardless of what people are claiming. Its not gonna magically get safer because Joe won an election. They dont want any perceived credit going to him that they can shift over to Joe as his first major accomplishment in set up for the election 4 years from now.
