Its the trajectory that is concerning. Deaths lag by a few weeks. Flu season is approaching, which if it doesn't amplify the death rate of COVID, may further overwhelm hospitals.

But I also wonder what Clay thinks, not that give a damn, but he has been held up as a COVID "reality checker" around here. So, someone will surely share his wisdom.

Flu is trending down compared to previous years at this point. Neither of us knows what may happen. Covid is a virus. It will make it's way thru our population. That's what viruses do.

Monty and Clay are different sides of same coin.

Perhaps, although If we are on the eve of inoculation, the prospect of ignoring the trend seems especially wreckless as the holidays approach. This is where the viruses will spread exponentially.

Be safe, is all I'm saying, and realize the vulnerable could suddenly include some of us kids.

All our vulnerable family members passed years ago. But we will remain as cautious as any with any other group hosted at our home.

I can promise you flu deaths will be way down if not non existent.

Looks like the death rate is on a steady decline. I'm not a doctor or scientist, but I would suspect that is a sign of herd immunity taking effect.

The case numbers could simply be a product of increased testing numbers and accuracy. IE...."we are looking for it, so we will find it" phenomena.

And we are 83,000 posts into this thread and I still have not received one answer from the 'bros on why case count numbers, both increasing or decreasing, is a good or bad thing. We are seeing that a virus spreads. Water is also wet.

I know what you mean, however, this is not a drill, in my opinion..

It's not enough to look out for yourself (ourselves), unless that includes everyone. A worst case scenario seems possible. Not hoping for it, but I feel like we are a frog in a pot with a thermometer floating in front of us.

JMO, and the analogies might not be the greatest, but that's what I believe.

Steady decline? What chart are you looking at? The one posted showed deaths Oct 10th of about 1K per day. Late Nov it jumped to 2K per day. How is that a steady decline?

One could reasonably assert as positives rise, so do cases needing complex intervention, and so do fatalities.
