2020 Presidential Race

Please. Trump had just as much to do with the vaccine as you and I did. I read freaking Dolly Parton funded the other one.
Warp speed was being planned while Dem leaders were still calling this a hoax and hysterical xenophobia (that clown will be potus soon). Plenty of reasons to nah him but this push came from his office. If he had waited we'd be way behind on development

PJ proposed a workable solution I agree with. Just do away with Fed garanteed loans going forward then but to insert themselves now after so many have paid off their loans is complete BS.

Your point about taking out alternative loans instead of fed guaranteed student loans makes sense. But life isn’t fair and for the gov to wrongly elevate some kids who made poor choices completely disenfranchises the kids that agreed to the loan terms. Either leave it alone or twilight the program while holding the loan takers accountable makes sense to me.

I am gonna get a lot of poop for this, but here goes...

Just because “this is the way it has always been...” doesn’t mean there isn’t a better way.

Another way to say it, if I want to know what a person values show me their budget.

With the government this is especially true.

But you're holding them accountable for loans you admit are completely inflated by govt intervention. If we're handing out money that would be one of the most direct to citizen methods and would stimulate the whole economy for years. Think of the housing boom

If nothing else they should be eligible for bankruptcy. This was added in 2005 by congress to protect their loans even from the courts. If they should be out of the loan business then they're protection should be eliminated as well

You coming at me, bro?

j/k

just because you and GV finally got your old man mercy Xanax, doesn't mean I did too.. yet

One thing I know for sure, is that too much time on here is not good for anyone. I think everyone can attest to that.

If I still have my sanity in a few weeks, and I'm still around, I'll show up in the OT forums more often.

Alright, ****er. Let's watch the old man comments.

As a parent of a kid heading in that direction, I would rather take out a second mortgage than let him get saddled up with student loan debt.

My point is, every year or two, college tuition continues to climb and wages stay relatively stagnant. So you force people to do something they would otherwise never do...just to help the kid get started out on the right foot. In 1970, you could work part time and put yourself through school, that’s not really possible anymore.
Instead of student loan forgiveness, why not enforce price controls on colleges and universities?
Or, only allow those in a high-earner track (engineering, medicine, accounting, etc) to take out loans?

I would be all about any plan to make college more affordable.

You won’t from me I agree with you. Get the government out of the loan business. But it’s wrong to just vacate outstanding debt while so many toed the line on the agreed to loan terms

You bet I am. They were adults. Life isn’t fair. And I’m against us handing out any money at all put people back to work.

Edit: don’t have a problem with the bankruptcy route. The only reason they don’t have it is because the damn feds interfered in the first place.

if we're looking for stimulus there would be no bigger impact than this

They were likely 18yo being given tens of thousands (hundreds of thousands in some cases) with no collateral and no guarantee they could ever repay. Then all conventional methods of discharge were stopped by govt action. Note: they stopped the discharge not the predatory lending. Meanwhile they gave trillions to bail out corps who perpetrated these predatory acts

Can you name any other financial transaction that is similar?

No in mail ballots, provision ballots, I'd and paper ballots only in all 50 states. If anyone by law messes with election fraud, arrest them all. I don't care if it's Hitlery Clinton, Obama, Soros, Biden or anyone else

Thank you!
