I know everyone wants to fire CJP (me included) but it ain’t gonna happen. Freeze is not coming here, our AD would never make that choice.

So, let’s face facts, we are stuck with CJP at least until 2022. If we have an offense with Bailey or Salter at QB with a solid defense and a veteran O-line, what is our win total? Can we compete with Bama, GA and Florida? I think that is the question. If we can no longer blame JG, then the on field results will justify his success or failure.

I am disgusted by what we have seen on the field this year but we have yet to see this team under CJP without JG at QB.

Most winning teams have a successful QB leading the team. Look at Nebraska today, they benched Martinez and beat Penn St. I totally agree that CJP should have benched JG last year not to mention this year and who knows we may see Bailey start next game. Not saying we should accept what we have seen thus far but rather that we should accept the fact that we have a QB problem.

Just my opinion, flame away. GBO!

I've been disgusted from what Volunteer fans have seen on the field for YEARS !

Jeremy has had 32 opportunities for us to see what he would do without JG.

He's taking that opportunity, what, three or four times?

The only thing we've learned from those times is that Jeremy is alarmingly consistent at failing to prepare players, motivate players, or develop a game plan to utilize player strengths.

He's done literally nothing to justify keeping a five million dollar a year job at an elite SEC institution. Nothing.

What makes you think this coach and staff can do any better with any other QB recruit? JG is no better and they've had almost 3 years with him. Look at what they've done with maurer and shrout. Hell, look at all the young talent sitting the bench. None have gotten meaningful snaps despite a pandemic year and numerous blowouts. You really think this turkey will suddenly grow fur and start barking? Come on.

I think it's actually a mix of things. It is painfully obvious to me that even with competent QB coaching that JG is missing some of the tools that great QBs have. He cannot sense back side pressure, he is only slightly better at reading a blitz....as a 5th year senior, he still stares down his receivers, and he still goes through progressions slower than a 5th year senior should. I don't know how a coach over comes that, but this should have been noticed by the staff and they should have been pouring all their effort into developing someone else. Now they are stuck unless Bailey finally has had enough practice to be the guy. Shrout hasn't progressed, and Mauer has actually regressed. All this team needed was decent QB play this year and you could have won 7 games, but ya know, let's just trust that the practice warrior will finally get it. What a sh!t show.

One leaves and it's just dumb.

Everyone knows those 2 are inseparable.

If we had a better QB, offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, secondary, and coaching staff we would be contenders. It appears that we are on the cusp of greatness.

No, not everyone wants to fire CJP.

I'm in favor of giving the man at least through next year.

Is he the guy to take us back to championships? Don't know. Maybe not. Things aren't looking promising right now. But I want to see how he does next year, once things have normalized again, before reaching a conclusion.

Just wanted to be on record that I'm not one of those ready to pull the trigger yet. There are more of us around than you might think, given the widespread threads of angst and woe.

Go Vols!

I think Pruitt has done a terrible job this year but I think it's premature to think he gets canned. A lot of people looks nutso on this board on this issue.

Pruitt will tell you all day long........JG gives Pruitt the best chance to win.

JG is Pruitt’s Dobbs........once JG leaves....look out things may get a bit rough.

I disagree with the premise. Maybe not with the conclusion, about JG limiting our program, you could be right there. But the premise about this being the worst season in UT history, I think that's wrong.

Not sure how you're defining it, though. Maybe you could clarify.

The 2017 season was the worst on record in two specific ways: never before had we lost 8 games in a single season, and never before had we gone 0-fer in SEC play.

We will not be blanked this year, as we've already won 2 SEC games. And if we manage to beat Vandy and/or Auburn, we won't repeat the 8-losses-in-a-season debacle.

So not sure what metric you're using.

If it's based on number of wins, or win percentages, we've had worse. Of both. One year, we had a big goose egg for Ws. And a couple of times, we've gone 1-6-2.

Heck, even Johnny Majors went 4-7 once, which is not very different from the 3-7 mark I think we'll end up with in 2020. For that matter, Johnny went 5-6 in his fourth season as our head coach. Poor fella, we'd crucify him if he were our coach in these days.

So, just not sure how you're seeing 2020 as the worst year in our history. By every metric that comes easily to mind, it won't be.

Not saying 2020 is a good year, it's clearly a disappointing one. Just saying, it's not vying for worst ever.
