JG listed as starter for Auburn game

Honestly, do you think he's able to do what you're suggesting?

I mean, with the exception of being a little more talented than we were when he took over, he's almost back to square one in year three.
No, I don't. I'm just saying that the suggestion initially made was that there was "nothing" he could do to win people back. I mean, there absolutely is; he can start winning.

Sports is really simple - winning is ultimately all that matters. Say Pruitt was more endearing in press conferences, was starting Harrison Bailey and playing many more younger players in response to his veterans struggling, he and his staff had accepted massive pay cuts when requested, etc., but his record was the same. Would his seat be any colder?

If he goes 0 fer the rest of the year, then things are going to start getting toxic.. Very hard if not impossible to recover from that.. IMO...

Well yeah, of course. Going 0-fer the rest of the year would mean that he's not winning. I think things are pretty toxic already.

If he goes 0-fer for the rest of the year and remains, he'd have to do something absolutely insane like win the East year to stick around.

Thing is, 0 fer is very likely.. I've seen nothing lately that leads me to believe this tem can pull a rabbit out of the hat...

I don’t think the guy who wrote this article actually watched the game. Bailey threw 6 check downs to the running back against a prevent defense. Maybe Bailey is the best qb we have, but what he did in garbage time against Arkansas was far from proof of that being the case.

You definitely do not tell the other team that you are starting a freshman qb who has only played 5 minutes in college football. Let them game plan for all three......

I think most thought that since this was a free year that Pruitt would roll with HB and get that experience and not have to worry about using his redshirt. Most coaches would have ran with this. Pruitt is too stupid to get out of his own way
I think he believes he's establishing a "culture" where the guys who perform in practice play.

I don't think he's as stupid as he is stubborn. Both are dangerous for a coach in the wrong measure.

Everyone knows I dont have alot to say, usually. But it just occurred to me why he hasn't been playing HB. Suppose he can see the writing on the wall and may not be the head coach at Tennessee next year. Looks like he doesn't want to give HB the experience this year, that could light up defenses next year. Especially if Pruitt is a DC somewhere. Just a thought.

Don't kid yourself, JG is coming back next season, and Pruitt will play him again.

He'll chalk up this year to covid, and completely turn a blind eye to JG's multi-year deficiencies, and yet again, we'll let QB development go down the toilet.
Silly post, JG will not be back. Give one valid reason he would.

I hope we lose by 40pts. JP just doesn't get it; this year is a wash. Coach up the young guys let them have the playing experience while it doesn't count toward their eligibility. Of course, I am assuming the staff can coach up the players.

Ok. I’m going to “attempt” to play devil’s advocate here. Maybe Pruitt wants to save Bailey and put him in the best position to be successful. Idk?

I see it backfiring bc there’s no way recruits can be excited by what they see. Let Bailey play, get some experience and you still have JG to come off the bench.

This year is literally a freebie to play the younger guys at this point. No reason to play JG at all. I just do t get it. Give HB all the reps you can to get ready for next year and give people hope.

Yes. IMO, it matters. With JG, you get poor to mediocre play with no future value. With one of the young guys you may still lose... but you get the opportunity for experience and to correct weaknesses. You make an investment in future wins.

Whatever. I guess losing with Bailey is different then losing with JG to you. I see a loss is a loss.

I don’t know know why any of the backup QB’s would want to come back. The team is losing and they still don’t get a chance.

Bailey may or may not be the answer, but if coach isn’t going to give him a chance over JG, why would he stay.

And the cherry on top, by not benching JG, it just gives him more motive to come back for Year 6, or whatever number it is, next year.

This is what’s wrong with our fan base. Why would you ever root for your team to lose? Ok fine if you expect them to lose, but you should never want them to lose.. these boys still got parents in the stands rooting their hearts out for their children and their team to succeed.
