You hold onto my dignity - I am tired of sucking. You and Fulmer's dignity cup will be why we won't hire Freeze, Kiffin, etc. and why we hire people like Pruitt and Jones.

It takes a bold move to shake off the stench surrounding this program. Pruitt sees himself in JG - and so we have the offense that we have. Outside the box thinking and leadership are needed -
Ole Miss looks exciting and well coached and they went and got a couple decent qbs.

At this point - we need something dramatic to turn things around.
You can make a bold move without cucking the program by taking Kiffin back. I'd be elated with Freeze, just no Kiffin.

The lesson from the Kiffin experiment is that the AD needs to be fully aware that desperate programs will do desperate things in desperate times and coaches can be pulled out of their contract at Tennessee at the worst possible times, you have to pay attention to what is happening around the country, Kiffins was Southern California's 6th or 7th offer, having been turned down repeatedly as the program headed toward NCAA sanctions, same thing nearly happened with Barnes, UCLA had been told no half a dozen times and they made a real reach with plenty of money and perks and a basketball heritage for Barnes, Fulmer had let go of Barnes, but Boyd saw the value of stability in that program and stepped in personally and professionally to see that Barnes stayed. Left to his own devices and skill set, Fulmer looses an eventual Hall of Fame basketball coach because he wasn't paying attention to his own basketball program and what was happening in the college game in general.

Can you imagine Fulmer trying to hire a men's basketball coach?

Barnes was one of UCLA's top choices. UK threw everything but the kitchen sink at Barnes several years ago, but had to settle on Gillispie when Barnes said no

Sorry , have no idea why my computer has duplicate post............have tried to delete one of each but cannot do so.
I was going to post,”You can say that again.”, but then you did over and over.
You can’t blame JG for the offense, the coaches keep playing him.

You can’t blame JC for the offense, JP makes him play JG.

You can’t blame JP, Fulmer hired him.

You can’t blame Fulmer, it was the mess that Currie left.

You can’t blame Currie, it was the BOT.

You can’t blame the BOT, it was Haslim pulling the strings.

You can’t blame Haslim, he is an oil guy.

Blame fossil fuels!

We need some new Billionaires.

And a QB change. I’ve never coached football, but that’s where I would start.

Absolutely not. Lookup sorry, lying, self-absorbed douchebag and you will find his image. He took a dump on all of UT; The players, the fans...everyone, as he flipped the middle finger and headed west.

Kiffin left, that's 100% on Kiffin.

Kiffin told Hamilton that he would only leave UT if the USC job openend up and USC would offer job. Guess what? It did and he left. Hamilton had zero negitating skills. None. Kiffin was the honest one about it and Hamilton screwed UT.

Reality check.. in year 3 of JP, we still suck. Swallow your pride.

Kiffin will never be welcome back to Knoxville as a member of the UT football team.

I don't know why people keep asking this question.

I think you would be shocked. Remember we nearly always give folks a second, third (and beyond) chance. It's just our nature. Hind sight about who we should have or did hire is "looking back". Looking back is O.K. if you and others are pretty deep in the bottle or if you are studying history to not make the same mistakes again. Give Kif's staff a little time to craft a defense and I think you will see that most all of us will say "we should have taken him back when we had the chance".

He has not coached anywhere more than 4 years, guessing his average is less than 3. If he was successful here he would be gone immediately.

Because it’s an “opinion poll”. What’s the harm? It beats the 35th different thread on CJP, JG, Chaney, etc.

Funny, when Kiffin left I was in the “never take him back” camp. Now? Well, I can’t throw the first stone when it comes to stupid or selfish professional decisions, and there’s no debating his ability to field a potent offense, so...

I don’t think it happens, but yes. If CJP leaves or is let go, I’d welcome Lane Kiffin back to the Hill.

Go Vols.

Why would he leave Ole Miss to come back to Knoxville? Were I him I would only look to go to a higher level program. Not make a lateral move from Ole Miss too Tennessee....

If everyone is good with bringing in a coach with baggage; I’d rather bring in Art Briles. At least he has proven he can win with lesser talent. Besides, most of the allegations that led to his firing have since been disproven.

No way. Pruitt is the right man for the job.

Please tell me you forgot the blue font. Please?

The only way Kiffen would come back is if Phil is gone. Phil would never be part of hiring his replacement from 2009.

So much of our problems date to Phlegmatic Phil and his Phwagile Ego. He stayed too long the first time, wouldn't hire competent staff who might challenge him, and now petty grudges and Phil's ego will keep Freeze, Kiffin, and likely any coach with ability and charisma away.

But at least Phil is getting some extra $$$, right?

There is nothing in Kiffin’s coaching resume’ that says he is anything more than a slightly, very slightly, above average as a head coach. 8 wins would be his ceiling here so it’s a no for me

Hell, we took a guy back as AD who got fired for performance issues as Head Coach
Kiffin left by choice in the dead of night though, Fulmer did not leave voluntarily, he left because we thought his 152-52 career record wasn't good enough anymore and we are 72-72 since that time.

Once again, that's not providing any details of how far the program fell from 2001 to 2008. I stand by my point. The fact that Fulmer couldn't get any offers after shouting to the world he wanted to continue to coach speaks volumes as to his reputation outside of the UT family, that maybe he was a product of our system that he took over with a full cupboard of players in 1992

The Haslam family’s wealth isn’t from oil. It’s from the stores that sell it...and Cheezit’s.
