Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

https://covidtracking.com/data/charts/us-currently-hospitalized

They track that stuff....
11/11/20 - 65,368 hospitalizations.

why ignore the decline in case fatality? In particular, why ignore the facts that the % of people who go to the hospital for Covid has dropped AND of those that go the hospital fewer are dying.

using your data (see link) you can see that for Biden's prediction to be realized daily deaths have to reach 3500/day. Currently they are around 1100/day and at the worst peak in the country they were 2500/day (using 7 day averages for all).

not only do we have to triple the daily death rate but we have to triple it now; every day it remains below 3500 is another day it has to be above it in Dec. So if it's 1200/day for a week, it has to be about 5000/day for a week in Dec to hit Biden's target

You'd think it would be an easy search and find but it isn't. If I want to find the 1933 w-l record for bumfuzzel U it's usually in the top 10 results but not yearly deaths for some reason.
The CDCs numbers on death always lag more than a year. I think the '18 information came out early 2020. Look for '19 in 2021.

The issue with tracking Covid deaths as we come to learn is only a small % die of covid alone, some were already terminally ill ( not saying their lives didn't matter ) but from a numbers stand point the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

I like this one.

We are still less than half the deaths with the same hospitalization as the first wave. And following the trend for the second wave. Much fewer deaths.

Any number on people with permanent or semi-permanent complications from COVID? With the number of deaths decreasing, we still have to worry about that and about hospital bed space. This isn't the time to let our guard down.

One of my best friends had COVID a month ago and ran fever for three weeks. He's better now but he can't catch a deep breath. His doctor told him there was no way to tell if this was temporary or permanent. He's 55 and was in good health before he got sick.

You all can laugh all you want and say it's just paranoia but this is a power grab on 1984 levels that is trying to condition the country for self isolation and big brother levels of surveillance.

You wanna have a national mask mandate fine.

But everyone needs to stand together and say this is enough.

If not, this will only be the beginning.

There aren't many of those in Africa though
Agreed. On the flip side I have worked with allot of African nurses and none were obese come to think about it. Many discussions about how the cultures are different, what they find odd about Americans, their food preferences vs ours, it's very enlightening. They always wanted to make me food.
Kinda like the south in my childhood, food is social.

If changes are not made by Chicago residents, businesses, and visitors to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the city is on track to lose 1,000 more Chicagoans by the end of the year or even more, ----------------- only 1000 in a city of how many million ?
