This is the move that no one is talking about. I you don’t (or can’t) get Freeze you could make that move and this staff would be elite on both sides of the ball. Dave Bartoo is an analytics guy that I follow and he has Long as a top tier OC while Chaney is a career bottom tier OC (third worst in the conference rn). Plus Long runs an offense with a reasonable tempo that will play well with CJP. If there is a hope for Pruitt to rebound this is it. Chaney just isn’t good enough even with good QB play. Oh also Pruitt needs to be calling plays on D. He is top 5 in the country at it. Playcalling is an art and it isn’t as simple as running the same system with the same players = the same result.
It isn't a stupid thought at all. You've brought up a possibility I don't think many fans have considered, or think could be true. I'm not sure why everyone is so quick to jump on the "Pruitt is a micromanager" train; perhaps because he isn't popular right now, and that paints him in the worst possible light? I can see him being a micromanager on the defensive side of the ball since that's where his expertise is.
However, they're paying the OC almost $2m/year, and Pruitt doesn't have an offensive background. You don't pay OCs that kind of money to simply take orders from a HC. It seems entirely plausible to me that Pruitt is giving Chaney autonomy on the offensive side, Chaney and that staff hasn't gotten anyone else besides JG ready, and so Chaney keeps telling Pruitt that JG gives them their best chance to win. In fact, that seems more likely to me than Pruitt intervening and playing JG over Chaney's objections.
Need a better QB coach. And no Co Oc just make Chaney the line coach for a year. How about this for a 2021 coaching staff?
Offense
Co-OC/OL: Jim Chaney
Co-OC/TE: Chip Long
QB: Joe Osovet
RB: Jay Graham
WR: Tee Martin
Defense
Co-DC/Secondary: Derrick Ansley
Co-DC/DL: Bo Davis
ILB: Lance Thompson
OLB: Tosh Lupoi
ST/Recruiting Coordinator: Brian Neidermeyer
It is 100% a way to push blame to Chaney. Then they can get rid of Chaney without looking incompetent.Y'all are falling for it. Those VQ rumors are all about salvaging Pruitt and blaming Chaney when it's Pruitt who absolutely refuses to play anyone but JG. This offense is the same one we had under Helton. Chaney doesn't pick the QBs and even if he did I highly doubt the same guy who chose true freshman Bray over Sims (you know JG 1.0) is the one refusing to prepare and play him. The common denominator is Pruitt. But these rumors are there by design. They want us blaming Chaney so they can fire him and give Pruitt another year without the heat they should be getting for even thinking about retaining Pruitt. People have forgotten that Chaney was supposed to be Pruitt's 'do over' after he trotted out the same uninspired offense with Helton.
While everything you say may be true, it still doesn't explain why you pay an experienced OC almost $2m/year and don't let him do his job. If that's the case, let's just hire an intern and pay them $40k to be OC, if Pruitt is going to make all the calls anyway.Y'all are falling for it. Do porn stars actually do that----just asking for a friendSome of y’all are ungrateful, sometimes. You could be getting a slow jack and a ball rub from the hottest porn star in the world & would complain about her grip. Sheesh. Say thanks for dropping in and let it go. Y’all are letting this get to you way too much. I’m hurt and pissed off as well but I’ve never been so happy in my whole life as I am at the current day. Too blessed to even be aggravated at anything right now
Soon----the election is over and Covid is on it's way out. Two major companies have a vaccine that's 90% effective----crank it upIf they are testing multiple times per week, why are they still quarantining for contact tracing? If this is the case, why didn’t players and coaches who had been around Saban or Trevor Lawrence have to quarantine? I would think TAMU had more positives OR spread through most of a position group.

Not sure I agree with improved LB play. Not what I've seen at all. And if you can bring in Tosh Lupoi to work with LBs and Bo Davis to work with the DL, you do it. Both can recruit and both can coach.Honestly I don't want to see Neid or Felton moved from LBs. I'd much rather Pruitt keep as many of his guys on staff as he can.
Weinke needs to go. I'd also be weary of Friend. But I've seen the LB group improving more than any other group on defense. Crouch and Banks look better this season than they did last season and Henry T has also improved a ton. I also think Felton/Nied both can recruit even more studs at that position group.
You chuck Weinke then you lose Ty Simpson completely. He loves that man. And Pruitt. That’s what has us basically leading for him even with sucking this badlyHonestly I don't want to see Neid or Felton moved from LBs. I'd much rather Pruitt keep as many of his guys on staff as he can.

So sorry my man. There's never a good time for brain surgery but it sucks that it's so close to the holidays. Prayers sent for you and your wife as well as her surgeon's.Well guys my wife is heading into brain surgery in a couple hours due to metastatic breast cancer from a couple years ago. She’s 35.![]()
I could ride with this model.Reading the tea leaves (just as relevant as the media) I don't think ANY SEC school will make a coaching change this year. Money and other concerns will make this a mulligan year. I also think Freeze will still be an option after 2021 if need be. Could easily see Pruitt allowed one more staff shakeup. Chaney, Weinke, Felton maybe not brought back. Chip Long named OC with Osovet in a greater role. Neids moved to another spot. Bo Davis and a quality LB coach brought in. Not the outcome many want, but better staff at the least.
