Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

Teams that win most of their games are more likely to sign top players. That's just the way it is. A team can continue to get top players when they are not winning, but school prestige only goes so far before the players start looking elsewhere. The biggest impact that Kellie can have on recruiting is to win all the games they are supposed to and most of the ones when they are the underdog. When that happens, the team is news, just like old times.

Four of them haven't played a minute yet and two of those won't play until 2021. But I do love your spirit.
I think it's inevitable. Fudd, Ducherme and Poffenberger play the same position, and there is overlap with McLean, Makurat, Williams (for another year), and Westbrook (1-2 years). Maybe some of them are happy to sit on the bench for the majority of their careers when they would be starting at other schools, but I'd bet good money there will be attrition. They have even more logjams than SC does.

Can I get an Amen

I feel like you’re right Rickster! They’ll love for the brand to shine again, I just hope it happens.

Only time will tell ? Also let`s fair the players UConn and SC go after it seems they have no problem getting.

While they are listed as the same position, from what I understand Fudd can play the 2 or 3, Ducherme and Poffenberger can play the 2,3 or 4.

I bet in 2021, you could see Bueckers, Fudd, Poffenberger and Ducharme on the court with DeBerry.

Not doubting that there could be transfers but it won't be a mass exodus.

What do you mean by sitting on the bench. No minutes? Limited minutes?

I miss the good ole days when it was standard that most players would get limited minutes as freshmen and be happy with that. There was always a pecking order.

I understand that Azzi expects to be behind Christyn Williams at the 2 her first year. I agree that you could definitely see those 5 together in a mop up scenario and that would be fun. You can call that group 'Bombs Away'. Minutes shouldn't be a problem Geno can get 13 players on the court each getting between 8 and 20 minutes a game for blowouts. In tougher games things will tighten up but it looks like he will have about 9 players to run in.

We didn't need Fudd....
We've got plenty of talent coming to play with the LVs....

Limited minutes. And not during close games.

In 2021, they will have McLean, Griffith, Edwards, DeBerry, ONO and Piath as their 4/5 rotation (all of them can play either post position, with McLean at the 4). They will have Bueckers, Muhl and Westbrook (if she stays) at PG. Williams, Fudd, Ducherme, Poffenberger, Makurat, and possibly some McLean/Griffith at the 2/3. I'm sorry, but people are going to be sitting on the bench for a long time. There just aren't enough minutes to go around.

Pecking order works, but if you are a top 10 recruit, you are going to college to play...not sit on the bench. It's not like it's 1997 where there are only a handful of good teams. There are a lot of teams that they could come right in and start as freshmen, and they know that.

There is no way that they can keep all of these players happy. It will be like Megan's class, where a bunch of them will realize that they probably won't be meaningful members of the rotation and will transfer out. I wouldn't be surprised to see 2-3 of them pack their bags, and wouldn't be surprised if it's more. The same is true to a lesser extent for SC, but I think they are spaced out better across all 5 positions, alternated big recruiting classes with small ones, and have a history of playing their bench deep minutes. Even then, I expect to see some of their players leave.

Both teams will have something like 10 McD AAs on their teams. They will want to play.

Too many talented players, but isn't that a problem most coaches would love?

It's a problem every coach wishes they had, and they're prepared to lose players once the cream rises to the top. I'm sure they'd rather be in a position where you have a team full of superstars fighting for minutes than trying to win games against teams like that.

You know that is how TN used to be right? Worked out pretty well.

Incredibly disheartening - and simultaneously boring - news. UConn's run of signing the #1 player continues, and their stranglehold on both the Final Four and national titles looks to be as firm as ever. They aren't the only game in town, but their getting 4 of the last 5 #1 players is a strong promise they're on their way to more titles. Ugh.
