Recruiting Forum Football Talk II

Austin Peay AD Gerald Harrison might be on the list as well.

Fulmer and Cutcliffe's right hand man.
maybe so. i do feel like INgram having to bring UAB football literally back from the dead, and being a UT Football alum, may have a more unique skill set better suited for us, at this particular time in our history.

nothing against mr. harrison....but if i were getting a vote, it'd be for ingram.

you say hand picked....i think it's fair to say that there were at least a couple candidates he wanted, he was not able to hire..........and money wasn't the issue.....speaking on the offensive side of hte ball that is....or no? i don't know how far along talks got with Freeze for OC or Briles for OC....but it's at least my understanding that there were roadblocks from the UT side of things that hampered either of those from happening....maybe moreso in teh case of briles than freeze? either way...curious about that.

True... but it's true with any HC. Not every candidate makes it through vetting. UT didn't hire anybody Pruitt didn't want-- including Helton and Brumbaugh.

There's no decision to be made. Pruitt will be the coach of UT next year. All of this talk of Freeze or anyone else is just angry posters venting. The university is not going to fire Pruitt this year when they can claim COVID as an excuse. They're not going to eat that buyout this year. Just not going to happen. We, as fans, can bitch all we want, but Fulmer doesn't care what we think. The university admin does not care what we think. Pruitt will continue to be out head coach, so we might as well suck it up and accept it.
Or show the level of discontent by not attending games, buying merchandise and decreasing/stopping donations.

I agree that they don't have to do a thing. I disagree "we might as well suck it up and accept it." Not the way I roll, or many other Volunteers for that matter. Ask SchiaNO.

My time and money can go for other pursuits. If about 40K of my closest Vol fan friends that go through those gates do likewise, after they open the stadium up next fall, "they" will be scrambling with their panic hires like they have three out of the past four times. In which case, Phil's time on the hill will end like it did the previous time.

"They" fired a HOF head coach with the help of Volunteer fans. "They" fired the most recent AD and did not renew the contract of the previous one. "They" can fire this non-HOF AD and his HC with our help again.

ok, i'll buy that. but to say they were "1st choice" may not be entirely accurate...which is all i was getting at.

I will honestly say this is the first time in my life watching VOLS fb that Idgas anymore. I’ll still tune into here and the games, but my “want” for this program to be relevant has just about completely diminished.
We've played 6 games this year and I've only watched the first 2. I haven't watched any of the live and only watch the games we win. Dammit, I want to watch another game this year-----please win again.

You're right. I didn't mean first-choice-- just that Pruitt picked them. Some guys weren't interested. As we move down the board, guys negotiate hard, trying to get a golden parachute. Pruitt's a good example, and Chaney's a better one. Chaney wasn't biting until we anted up and anted up. And now he doesn't need another gig. He can retire.

When you run the ground and pound O you need a threat at TE to work the 5 yard route between hashes and in flat to keep LB honest. No reason they can't have him a package his blocking can't be anyworse than Warren. In CHRIST Alone
Warren is a big disappointment. I thought he might surprise. It appears he takes off on many plays especially his effort on blocking plays A waste of a scholarship IMO.

Ugh! We are screwed no matter what it seems. Our last chance was for Pruitt to succeed. If he doesn’t, then Phil is out, Pruitt is out, and the Haslams will be back in power making the decisions, which means no Freeze. Pruitt has to get this right, or we are finished.

10-4. knew about Chaney holding out as long as he did. but was there any candidates blocked? for whatever reason i seem to remember a lot of angst about briles potentially be the hire, and ultimatley we said "no" to pruitt on that one. maybe the same on Freeze, but that kinda went on to be a moot point since he got the Liberty job......

i don't know how much that maters, except in the grand scheme of things, if "pulling hte same direction" is important, then it seems we're still not there.....

I’m sorry but I think it’s ridiculous for anyone to think that DanH knows anything about the possibility of Freeze coming to Knoxville and is somehow leaking Info. It’s foolish to think that

One day people will realize he just reads message board then writes two sentences for an article to get clicks because he knows people are talking about then they click his article and go wtf is this

@LA Vol Is there anything that would force a change this year? For example, if we lose to vandy, or something else. I'm just curious.
I think that would be enough to do it....Vandy will be winless when we play them and if Pruitt loses to them there is no way Fulmer can keep him. If we lose to Vandy this year...that will be worse than the GaSt loss last year imo.
