It's ok, you can call us tricks.

Trick:
noun. a person being used in a relationship sense for money or what they can do for the user. She don't care about him - he is just her trick.

Schiano was not hired because of this board and fans standing up.

You can be a jackass on here all you want but that deal got killed due to public outcry.
Public outcry about a guy with history in child sex abuse scandal. It's not like you shut down a hire because you didn't like a guy's coaching style. Don't give yourself that much credit. You are also admitting I'm right about everything.

That might be the most arrogant post I've ever seen here.

It seems you and JP would get along well. Have a beer, chill, and stop attacking fellow posters. I never understand that.
How is it arrogant when I'm right? You didn't attempt to disprove anything I said....

This is how the AD and school views the fanbase.

They believe the fans are stupid, uneducated John's who will keep coming back no matter what....and after 20 years of crap it appears they are right.

1st....the ESPN money is still there even during the pandemic

2nd.....while the stadium is only 25% full it still has 25% revenue coming in.

Are things financially tight?

Yes.

But anyone who believes that the school cannot, and I stress the word cannot, afford to fire Pruitt at the end of this year is wrong.

Butch contract buyout ends in February.

Firing Pruitt is basically a flip in buyouts.

Is this the best time financially to fire a coach? No. Would it make things very tight at UT? Yes. Could it be done? Yes!

But here is the deal.....if everyone keeps buying seasons tickets you are part of the problem. Anyone who goes to a game is part of the problem.

There must be a complete boycott of this program and a strong online boycott on Twitter and other sites that shines a huge unwanted spotlight on our school to get people fired and nervous.

If you love this program it is time to make a stand. Stand now or this program is dead.

I have no idea what the outcome will be but we as a fanbase must unite together now or this program is over.

One Ut fanbase!

One voice!

All united!

We do not accept this! We do not accept this! We do not accept this!

Say it and then show it!!!!!!

I believe that method was used to git rid of Bowden at Clemson. Guess that worked out well.

I may have been a little harsh, but the reality is the stupidity of people who think that they can actually affect change in the program while firing coaches without understanding the real world dollars and cents ramifications is maddening. Things cost money, and the financials of the university are no different (I'm at UT getting my PhD). I've actually FOIA'd the university for some of my dissertation, and we don't have as much money as people think we do. TL;DR stupidity without research annoys me

Here are some real world numbers for you....

Ky pulled in 6.73 million in apparel sales last 12 months. That is the amount the kept.

How much TN apparel you see anymore outside of Knoxville?

Close to nil.

You wanna generate revenue just win and the apparel sales begin to offset the buyout losses and eventually out perform the loss.

That's actual fiscal numbers there and I difnt insult you once.

..... and they'll go right on believing until they are deprived of what they covet most...

No, I have no reason to believe they are equating the intelligence of the entire fan base on what they see on boards like this one. Those being stupid enough to get on boards on a daily basis and demand a change without a bigtime alternative in hand does not wreak of excessive grey matter.... I actually saw a post on here the last couple of days that went back to the THIS IS TENNESSEE logic. That is how you get into the Kiffin, Dooley, Jones cycles. Then to propose hiring another coach from the integrity challenged list is not going to help. Gong to have to be a really strong hire to avoid losing ground in the talent differentials with our conference opponents, especially with transfer trends. Whack a coach they respect and bring in a guy they do not respect or like and the best will have all the opportunities to go elsewhere they would like..... and with this year not counting against eligibility this may be the worst year in history to make a change, especially for true underclassmen. They can go elsewhere with at least three years to play even if they have to sit a year. Any change may be a problem, a bad change could be devastating. Our best hope is that the current guy has been on a learning curve and can get where we all want to be.

With covid yes.

But next year when we go back to allowing full stadiums if it stays at 25 percent still, which it wont, it would be a huge red flag to the AD.

Even 50 percent full would be.

I dont believe a change should or would happen this year.

It appears almost all the staff contracts end jan 22 except JP.

I would make it clear he has the remainder of this year and next to turn it around. I would begin my search now and get serious candidates lined up behind the scenes.

If the season goes bad next year, I would have a list of candidates already formed who have advised they are serious about accepting the job.

I would then fire him mid season but state he can and will finish out the year while the transition takes place.

I would have the new coach announced late fall so he can save the current class and also recruit new players.

Only buy out at this point would be JP.

I would not terminate him until I had a serious candidate who was ready to take the job and I had a closed door agreement with both the agent and coach.

First, cite your source? Secondly, 6.73 million doesn't mean it all goes to one sport, it goes to the athletic department. The athletic department has bills that it has to pay, and you would have to net over 100 million in revenue just to scratch the surface of a coaching change again. The most profitable brand in college athletics is Texas, and they aren't making anywhere near the number needed to keep changing coaches like you want to.

I'm glad you were able to do a little research, but you obviously don't understand the scope of the financials needed to make a coaching change happen. You would have to buy out the current staff, the new staff at their current schools and then pay their salaries. All of that is on top of the current expenditures that the schools responsible for, which if you haven't heard, they are going to be short by about 2 million. If you are already 2 million short of your budget, how can you justify adding about 30 million more to that number? You could ask boosters to chip in, but why would they? They are business people themselves, and why would they contribute tens of millions of dollars to another coaching search, when their businesses are facing an uncertain economic climate as well?

It might be costing money to keep Pruitt, but there is no fiscal responsible way to get out of this for less money than keeping him. If you're such a financial wizard, prove where you can find the money and make it work.

Staff contracts of ours except jp expires spring 22.

100 million cost is absurd and shows you are just throwing numbers out there. Even annualized over course of entire contract period all coaches salaries do not remotely total this.

Forbes is who I cited.

6.73 would be split between AD and school. Ad can then dictate how funds are used leaving 3 plus million for buyout if needed for JP.

If fired mid season next year which is what I would do only buyout would be JP.

Not all coaches we hire would have buyouts and not all schools pay for these buyouts when hiring. This would be negotiated.

Lastly, I never said it would be easy but it could be done. Thst is my point and if next year there is no major improvement then all coaches contracts that expire in 2022 need to expire and JP terminated.

Yup. Every few years they do unnecessary upgrades to keep the facilities state of the art. They could just postpone some of those upgrades and we can live with having facilities that are really good but not quite the newest. For example, now that Butch Jones is gone they could forego upgrading the juice bar.
Yep! We’re basically playing Vandy level football for the last few years.
The facilities are not what needs upgrading.

i totally agree..they should've never let Fulmer back around that program because after his last season 08 he should've never been able to step around that program forever ! but oh no...favoritism up there couldn't keep him away ..smh
Agreed. The only way he should of been allowed to see the team is by buying a ticket.
