He was coached really well in high school. He had a great private QB coach that has coached a lot of top recruits and a good high school coach that has won championships and had lots of top recruits. How great was it to see HB step up in the pocket though?
Or when he escaped the pocket, and didn't immediately tuck the ball, but kept his eyes downfield looking to make a play?
Man was that nice to see.
Its the small things guys.
9-10 wins a year. SECCG appearance and chance at the playoffs once every 3-5 years whenever we have a special QB. Tennessee is more than capable of that. Its insane to think otherwise. Just look at how we've recruited over the last 15 years while being absolute ass on the field. We probably won't ever reach the level of Georgia, Alabama, and Florida again, at least not consistently partially due to the geographic advantages and competent ADs they have.
But there is NO doubt in my mind that we should damn near always be ahead of Kentucky, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, and Missouri in the east as well as turn out better teams than what Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State have. We always have more talent than they do and have better facilities.
I disagree. I think he’s still a man against MOST boys in college, as a runner. Sure he’s not fast but I think he’d wear defenses down with how hard he runs especially if he was part of a 1-2 punch. I just don’t see him being as good as he could be as a LB vs RB.I think he was a beast RB in high school because he was a man against boys.
I don’t think he has that advantage in college. I don’t think he’s very fast or quick - doesn’t look it on defense.
Might be an okay short yardage back - but they don’t make tons of money in the NFL.
I think his best days are ahead and on defense, but he’s got to put in the work and he’s a 4-5 year player in college. Has to learn it inside and out to where it comes natural.
- Hubbs
Toe in the waterSo....if Hubbs is the mouthpiece of the AD how exactly are we to take the fact he's calling out HF as a guy that would absolutely win at UT? This coupled with the CJP illustration yesterday that was unflattering at best, has me wondering if something is in the offing, or if he's searching for clicks? Which is it?
I’d imagine along with writing articles and posts he also reads posts and has a great feel of what fans want/ expect/ hope.So....if Hubbs is the mouthpiece of the AD how exactly are we to take the fact he's calling out HF as a guy that would absolutely win at UT? Obviously not a given but I believe the clearest path back to national relevance is going balls out with money/resources on a PROVEN head coach that can bring in PROVEN assistants. Now, the definition of who fits into “proven” is where the goalposts move. My belief is it’s not a Fickell, Fleck, Campbell, Healey, Bill Martin, etc. They have to go after somebody like an Urban Myer, Bob Stoops, etc. Not necessarily those guys directly but someone of that caliber and recognition that’s proven they can do it. If they choose to go down the path of Fickell, Fleck, Campbell, Healey, Martin, etc. then we’ll be right back in the position we’re in. Some of those guys may eventually be an Urban or Stoops but UT doesn’t have another 10 years to hope they can find out. They are slowly hemorrhaging and the fan apathy and lost revenue is only going to get that much worse if they don’t fast track this thing. That is... if the University even cares to. I think that’s the bigger question they need to answer first.
And I would add, he did that as a 14 year old FR that started every game in 7a in GA too. He never looked rattled or out of place. He looked like a SR with lots of experience right out of the gate in high school. How great was it to see HB step up in the pocket though?

I don’t really buy the UGA fan fiction that Chaney dismisses Bailey, but the fact that it’s out there makes me even more skeptical of the whole Chaney process. Great offensive minds don’t work against themselves. And I would add, he did that as a 14 year old FR that started every game in 7a in GA too. He never looked rattled or out of place. Which is why you cut bait now. Team is unraveling. We keep Pruitt and we still see transfers and probably some decommits. I do not see one good reason to keep him if Freeze says he would come tomorrow. I would have already fired Pruitt and had Freeze locked up for next year. Let him finish at liberty and get to winning us games come next year.Podcast has me thinking Holiday and Wideman and maybe Morven Joseph transfer at years end.
So dumb of the staff to have Eric Gray in a wild cat instead of Holiday or Calloway. Or Beckwith.
