Sure, but if you want to diagnose the defensive issues, pass rush wouldn't be at the top for me. If we could defend a slant, that would help. Pass rush doesn't matter when the ball is thrown 2 seconds after the snap.

Had 4 sacks against Arkansas. While they ran for 198 (40 by a WR), the killer plays were in the secondary. Two 50+ yard plays. How many dropped INT's?

It can all get better, but those are two players that have actually developed.
oh, i agree with that.....its an issue. but not THE issue....agreed.

i don't even have an issue with that...practice is important. but put them under the lights some and see what they do. put it on film. give them something to work on against somebody other than the team mates they practice against every day....

4 weeks ago, the season is still wide open, opportunities were still available.

well, we're full on salvage mode now, and i don't think this season is salvagable. but the next two years are.

so that's what i'd be working toward.

All point I agree on!..my comment I guess could be for the kids who look like S**t in practice but when the lights come on a switch flips and those kinda of players are at every university but you just never know until they get their shot!

Speaking of Eason, French and McDonald. They almost all went to Arkansas until French was accused of stealing something on the visit. That was under the previous coach though. That transfer rule is gonna bite us..
yeah, him....lol. that's the one...........

Offense looked good against South Carolina & Missouri, 6 TDs and over 800 yards combined in those 2 games. Since we've only scored 2 TDs and 1100 yards in the last 4 games since. Not sure though, something changed for that Georgia game and the passing game now is completely different. Not sure if it's Tee, JG, Chaney, Pruitt or a mixture of all of them. I just get the vibe that he's gotten more involved and that's why that side of the ball looks less explosive.

Last season 63 plays 366 ypg and 24.2 PPG
This season 67 plays 319 ypg and 20.7 PPG

Early in the season and competition might play a role in that? UK, UGA, Bama, and Arkansas are all better then USC and Mizzou, IMO.

I hope Pruitt is not ignoring his own words. Over his tenure, he has consistently talked about the ability to be explosive on offense and creating chunk plays. We've seen everything but that recently.

VQ continues to mention "trust" as a reason for limiting Guarantano, which ultimately limits the offense. They've also mentioned injuries and poor play from the OL. But, the coaches are not doing themselves any favors by not trying something different when options exist.

Someone nailed it earlier, so TN to have JG out for concussion protocol and we finally get to see HB do more than hand the ball off.
Now, JG will get the rest he needs to trot out next week!! Fml!!

I think Pruitt slow played the crap out of them too until he missed on some other guys. Or I believe that was the story at the time.

This is going to sound crazy - but if USCj fires Muschamp & Co I could definitely see Pruitt hiring Muschamp and Bobo. They're friends, Friend and Bobo were together at Colorado State, Muschamp's nephew is already on staff at UT.

This idea is not my own - Dan Harrelson published an article that mentioned it on VolsWire.

I actually wouldn't be opposed to that if they have the freedom to do their jobs, but knowing JP, i doubt him and Muschamp would work well together.

i think Muschamp is pruitt, pruitt is muschamp. great defensive coordinators. i think Bobo is meh....but there's guys on that staff that i think woujld be good fits here.

not tracy rocker though. not him. lol.
I think Smart is the same as them as well. Move all three around to the different jobs and you get the same results.

I would love to get rocker back. We are clearly missing him this year

I
I could see him hiring Muschamp, but Chaney has a 1.6 mil deal still, I don't see any way we let him go.

Muschamp has been bad for a while. He was bad at Auburn his one year before going to South Carolina. What a loser staff that would be.

you're saying that Bobo, Champ, and T-Rob wouldn't potentially be immediate upgrades?

HC - Pruitt
OL - Friend
QB/OC - Bobo
WR - Tee
TE - Osvelt
RB - Graham

DL - Rocker
Co-DC / LB - Muschamp
Co-DC / DB - T-Rob
ST - Nieds
Sure they’d be upgrades on paper but 1) the locker room has turned against Pruitt so it doesn’t matter 2) if we can buyout Chaney and hire all these guys, why not just can Pruitt and get freeze?

Here's some guys names I've not heard/seen and I'm confused if they've done something to piss off the staff?

Warren Burrell 4 star kid that started the first four games last season, played in nine total games and has been rarely used this year.
Key Lawrence our highest rated recruit only sees snaps on special teams
Tamarion McDonald also only seeing snaps on special teams currently
Doneiko Slaughter only true freshman to start this year, hasn't played meaningful snaps since. When he is on the field though he's productive
Tyus Fields played in 4 games last season and redshirted, 4 star and a top 15 prospect from North Carolina not seen any action this season

I know Gibbs opted out (which also sucks majorly since he's holding a scholarship for 2 seasons now and we've gotten not a single snap from him).

As a UT fan, I'm bracing for the cancelation of the game this weekend thus ending a chance of HB starting with JG under concussion protocol. And JG starts/plays the rest of the season barring injury.

I'm also bracing for South Carolina to fire Muschamp in the next few days/weeks and already have Hugh Freeze hired to be announced at the end of the year.

At the end of this year, Pruitt will be retained, much of Tennessee's young talent will transfer, this recruiting class will tank, and next year will be a 4-5 win season after which Pruitt will be fired, a relatively young head coach will be hired, and Ty Simpson and most of the top 2022 instate recruits will go elsewhere.

And people wonder if Battered Vol Syndrome is real...

Crap what if both Texas A&M and Auburn games just get canceled and not made up? Fulmer sure won't fire Pruitt then. Need to play the games and look like we have all season. I want Freeze
We aren't getting Freeze. It's a pipe dream. If we fire Pruitt we will go after another OC or DC from somewhere and most of the fanbase will have to Google his name.

Still looking at the numbers less plays and more yards and points last season...despite how badly we started the year. Something has changed though offensively we all know that, the big question though is what and why? Pruitt says he hasn't seen enough of Bailey, but also doesn't want to put him out there to get any real meaningful snaps. I mean JG is in year 5 they know what he is, and are still willing to trot him out there and limit what he's doing because they don't trust him enough. If that's the case why is he flipping starting? Hell we beat Missouri by a large margin and never gave a series to any other QB. JG played the whole freaking game. Would have been a great time to get Bailey some exposure so the HC would get to see him at least.

This worst case, so we should probably just go ahead and expect it and brace for the nut kick.

The SEC champ game is on the 19th I believe. My best guess is we could play TAMU the week after UF and then since most likely Aub and TN won't be in contention for the East or West that game could be played the day of the champ game either as a nooner or late night kick.
