Once UT has played their last game of the season, Pruitt should be fired and Freeze should be on a plane to Knoxville to be announced as the new coach. I’m done with Pruitt. He’s not the guy. He’s too much of a totalitarian to be a successful HC. It’s his way or the highway and that has never been a good recipe for success anywhere.

Nick Satan, respectively, disagrees.

How much worse can it get? I mean seriously if (big if) UT got crazy successful and THEN was caught years later and hate to vacate wins, is it worse than where we’re at right now? We currently don’t have wins to vacate lol

I don't want Fulmer having anything to do with this hire. It's time to get serious and hire someone who can handle a program this size, in a shark infested conference like the SEC, and has a proven track record of winning in this league AND beating Saban. I know folks are sick of hearing it, but we need Hugh Freeze and I'd be all in on him this year. No way in hell do I give Pruitt another year to "right the ship". Just another year to make things worse, prolong the inevitable, and lose a bunch of recruits in the class as well as coming transfers.

There are back channels to "gauge interest". Agents and associates are free to make contact and they do it all the time. I'd get Freeze locked up this year before one of our SEC brethren beats us to it and then beats the hell out of us with him. We get a second bite from this apple. We won't get another opportunity like this again. Pivotal moment for this program IMO.

Think about it. If we get Freeze this year, instant euphoria among the fans. It's the buzz of CFB. Recruiting gets red hot. And the concern over the coming one time transfer becomes a golden opportunity to immediately upgrade this roster to levels that we'd only thought possible with another several years of superb recruiting. You think Freeze wouldn't bring in a qb a helluva lot better than JG? You think he'd go into next year with the same bodies in that QB room? Hell no.

It just doesn't get any better than this. It's right there...on a silver..no....golden platter. Fulmer would NEVER hire him so I don't want his ass involved. Personally, I'd do the same with Fulmer. Hire either Charles Davis or Blackburn and retire Fulmer right along with Pruitt.

We can't blow this again. Make the move and we rocket back into SEC contention. Pass on him again and we become Miss St at best and likely Vandy level with comparable numbers of fans in the stadium. Chit, who am I kidding. This university has been in this spot so many times over the last 20 years and they've screwed it up each and every damned time. Each hire is worse than the last. No expectations that anything will change over there, but I can dream....and it's such a great dream. Please, for the love of this long suffering program and fan base, hire Hugh Freeze. End this madness.

Now is the perfect time to hire Hugh Freeze and he would crawl down 460 to get here but when has Tennessee ever done the right thing? They always wait until there's nothing but ashes and then we're always left settling for some google name coach that Akron turned down. We get behind the coach and support him because no one here is a bandwagon fan but when we don't get results we always get our hopes up that maybe this time the administration won't take this fan base for granted but they will, again. That's why we need to stop showing financial support to UT and maybe they'll get the message.

Someone with a lot of money is going to have to do to Fulmer what Alabama did when Mal Moore tried to hire Rich Rod, the big money people went to him and told him if he liked his job call Rich and tell him Thanks but No Thanks. The rest is history

Would love to see this change made. However financially the best Tennessee can do right now is put pressure on Pruitt to delegate more responsibility to others.
But Pruitt thinks he is Bud Kilmer and treating his staff & the kids in 2020 like it’s 1985. So I think we could just be stuck for another year at least with Bud Pruitt.

The UT way will be that HF will either get hired by South Carolina or even worse, Vandy. In the next few years, we will get owned by whichever team hires him. Our recruiting will tank and there will still be people arguing saying, "well at least he's better then Butch, he needs more time." His W/L record will be far worse. This is just the way Tennessee football rolls.

South Carolina will go after Freeze... then we'll end up playing and getting beat badly by SC again too while we sit around and throw our hands up in the air waiting on a miracle and not go after a proven coach
Hugh Freeze is above SC, he won't go there

Too bold of a move for UT. Pruitt will get another year to “right the ship” because Fulmer never got that year to right the ship in his own coaching career. If we start 2-4 next year Fulmer might be forced to make a move mid year

Right the ship??? When the Hell did this "ship" ever get straight since the early 2000's???? This "ship" has been drifting endlessly in a sea of SUCK~! If 8 wins was good enough... should've kept Fulmer.

You do realize he coached at Ole Miss, right? The majority of big time programs are doing OK. Most programs that actually care about doing well in football, hire good coaches in the first place. If the Michigan job opens up, I can see that one above lower tier sec schools.

He coached at Ole Miss because that was his first big break, he's a hot commodity now. Michigan is too arrogant to hire him, he will be at Auburn, Tennessee ( we're too dumb to ) or maybe Southern Cal ( although I don't see him going out west ). My money says he's at Auburn

Keeping Pruitt at this point would be the same as keeping Butch after he lost to Vandy in 2016. At that point you knew he was done. All they did by keeping Butch is prolong the inevitable and completely waste the 2017 season. No need to waste 2021 by keeping Pruitt.
