It’s amazing to me that people who are supposed to be so smart can’t see the simple numbers. It’s amazing to me that they can’t see this same exact situation has already been seen on the Hill with the last 2 coaches, yet we have learned nothing from it and will keep the 3rd one a year too long. My only thing that makes me think I understand why is what @Atlanta VOL said...if everyone isn’t rowing in the same direction, it doesn’t matter who is our coach. I really think the power boosters who have been overpowered are sabotaging the program somehow in a negative fashion, in order to regain power. It’s amazing we can’t all join together for the good of the program to make Tennessee great again. As Paul said in 1 Tim 6:10, “For the love of money is the root of all evil...”. So so true. Power, because of the money and love of it, fits right in with that.
Winning 3 of 4 down the stretch would only make me give him a chance with a QB not named JG. However, next season He’d have to beat one of Florida UGA or Bama for me to buy in and he’d have to go 9-3. No losses to UK, Vandy, USCjr Mizzou or OOC games. Even at 9-3 I’d be hesitant to buy back in if we got blown out by our 3 main rivals. I understand the University would kill for 9-3 and rightfully so but I still wouldn’t believe he’d ever get us over the hump. Especially with his management of players and how abysmal out teams looks on offense and doesn’t seem to have improved at all.Exactly has to go 5-5 and I'll give him one more year to see if he can flip the switch. But us going 5-5 is so astronomically low it's laughable
He needs stud players at every position. I'm not impressed. He's never lacked talent except here and this defense sucks. Almost Sunseri level bad. To me that's how you judge a coach whether it be the head coach or a coordinator. Do they play over their ability?
Yeah. Ojulari is a beast and is gonna kill it at lsu. Of all the players we've missed on over the last few years, he's gotta be close to the top.Wish we landed Rakim Jarret and Tau from Maryland but then again they probably wouldn’t be given a chance yet if they were here.....sickening to think about guys we were deep on at times and how they are shining elsewhere. BJ Ojalari is the one that really stings the hardest.
We should stop getting excited over coaching searches. We're only going to end up disappointed while we Google the name of the coach when it's leaked ahead of the announcement.I have to admit that talking about coaching changes has been more entertaining than watching our football team for the last few years. But it seems clear that there will not be a change this year regardless of the number of fans that think we need one. So all this talk could be destructive. I think the best path forward for right now is to get Bailey ready to play and then for Pruitt to remove the coaches who aren't cutting it or who he doesn't get along with at the end of the season. The challenge will be keeping the recruiting class that we have right now.
Agree. Freeze or whoever else winds up on some list we come up with will still be roaming sometime else's sidelines. The same fractious boosters and AD are involved in the basketball program and it's humming along. Do they like shooty hoops better? No. We have a good coach there and it shows. A good coach will succeed regardless of boosters or the admin. We simply need to take a page from the little brothers of the SEC West who got tired of feeling like there was no hope. Fire our version of Chad Morris and hire Freeze or someone else who at least has an idea of how to manage a game. But tbh, there's not a better time to reach out to Freeze than now because if we don't someone else will and we will be stuck holding the bag. OM dumped Luke because they wanted Kiffin and were not going to stand by while their rivals upgraded and to be fair to Luke he'd done far less wrong under far worse circumstances than Pruitt. He was more collateral damage in the race to be better than a bad coach. In contrast, all we've done the past 20 years is stand by while our rivals upgraded. If we wait, we will once again lose. Waiting is what has gotten us here and kept us here.
